I don't know how, but somehow the screen got cracked and now it's all purple and blue in the middle and regular on the edges. I bet you could imagine my face. It was a bit of disbelief, wtf, followed by wanting to scream at it and myself, then I wanted to throw it against the wall. Instead, I put the headphones on and turned it on and my favorite song played just fine, then I walked to class

Is it possible for me to fix this by buying a broken ipod off someone and switching parts or am I hoping for too much?

I think the cost to repair it would run the same as a new iPod.

Buy an iPod with a dead hard drive off of eBay, and you should be able to plug the display into your iPod - or the case if it's cracked on the outiside.

Yea that's what I wanted to do. How tough do you think it would be swapping those parts out? How do you open the case

I found this site, I hope it helps. It shows how to open your iPod.

www.pdasmart.com

They've fixed my iPod twice at a very reasonable price.
