So I know this has been discussed many times, but Apple is finally taking my Ibook back after 5 times in the shop. So I can basically get either another 14 inch Ibook G4, or a 12 inch Powerbook. Since both have the same resolution, I'm leaning towards the Powerbook mostly for its monitor spanning qualities. But what do others think?

If your eyes are young, then get the PB. I've had both the rev A & B 12" PB's and a 12" iBook, and there's just no comparison.

Another vote for the Powerbook. The monitor spanning makes up for the screen size. And, since the screens are the same resolution, the 14" iBook is just extra size and weight to carry around.

After 5 times in the shop I think I would be leaning toward the powerbook too (but my 42 year old eyes prefer the 14" ibook screen).

Gee, I wonder if we've been clear enough in our votes?
(yes, I'd vote for the powerbook too.)

Oh, to be wrestling with such a decision!! I own an iBook, which I absolutely adore. I've never had the pleasure of getting my hands on a powerbook. In your shoes I'd pick the powerbook. When I got my 14.1" I instantly wished I got the 12". I didn't realize how big it would be. Not that it's extremely huge, it's just not as "comfortable" to me as a 12" would be. As for me, I'm dying to know what you decided!!

No offense to all you 14" ibook users, but my person opinion is that its too white lol. I like the 12" ibook, but i would take the pb over the ibook.

Well, the computer has arrived, and thanks to your help, I am the very happy owner of a new 12 inch powerbook. Though I haven't had much time to play with it, I am sure it will work out.
BTW, my girlfriend has a 15" Albook, and frankly, I like the 12 better. The 15 can be pretty ungainly sitting on your lap and stuff.
