I used Audion for years; still do, on occasion. My favorite skin was the old classic FishFace in its Aqua incarnation.

Did they really take MP3Pro out of the last version, though? That would be a real shame. I'd thought that they hadn't changed the version, but just posted a serial number that anyone could use.

Panic/Audion now have a freeware version - minus the 'MP3Pro'.
Paid users of the last release 3.0.2 can still download and
use the 'MP3Pro' enabled version.

Just posting it in one thread will serve people better. What if someone has a comment? Do they make it both threads? What about PowerBook users of Audion? Should the same thread be repeated there? What about the lounge?
Besides, Cabel's e-mail (which I got this mornin) is going to people who have it. There's nothing served by the same thread twice. That's not anal, that's common sense.

Still use Audion daily, I think it's a shame there will never be an Audion 4, but I guess they didn't have much of a choice.

Favourite skins:
Gizmo 2.0 and Audion Ipod 1.2

Great application. Bought it WAY BACK WHEN and sorry to say, stopped using it when iTunes + iPod came out (3 years ago)?

Love Panic though. Transmit is a great application.

Bought Unison with my discount. Not sure what I am going to do with it, but there it is.

Unison has been great for finding obscure files and stuff. The newsgroups are overlooked now with all the P2P apps out there. But everytime I can't find something on Acquisition, it's there on usenet.

Great story on the retirement of Audion on the panic site.

I had registered SoundJam right before Audion was to add encoding.

Today I enjoy using Transmit and Unison. Thanks for the great software Panic!

Unison is awesome, the best USENET reader available on any platform. If you don't know what the USENET is, you should read up on it, check out Unison's pre-installed favourites, or try searching for newsgroups on topics that interest you.

Personally, I use it to listen to music all day. I open up alt.* music newsgroups for the genres I like, and I stream and listen to the songs that get posted each day. I've found a lot of new groups I like that way.

MP3pro is essentially useless and incompatible with just about everything out there. No big loss, IMO.

What about us only looking at categories containing threads of interest? I don't wan't to browse through every category to look for Mac OS X software threads - they belong in Software.

Can I ask a question? As support for audion is now dead, can anyone else tell me why it will no longer start up?

I use it solely to play my mp3s on my external drive (as itunes doesn't seem to play well with split libraries) and it doesn't want to load anymore. its annoying!

Have you tried deleting the prefs?

well I've downloaded a fresh copy of the disk image and rebuilt the directory on the external drive and trashed all the audion stuff I had. Hopefully now it will work!
