Hi all.
I have the original G5 desktop 1.6 ghz G5 with 8X AGP Pro graphics NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 Ultra with 64MB DDR SDRAM. Note that this model G5 does not have PCI-X slots.
I'd like to upgrade the video card because I play Civilization IV a lot and this benefits from better video (note that I have 2 GB RAM already). I have a 19" Dell flat panel display (DELL 1905FP) with DVI and a max resolution of 1280 x 1024.
Which model video card would you all recommend to get the best from this game (and other such as Tiger Woods golf)?
TIA

ATI X800XT...hands down the best card for the AGP G5's

Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

This is the one that I was thinking of going with but I wanted to check with the experts here first. I wish I had waited a few months more and had got the later model G5 with the PCI-X slots.
Can you recommend a place online to buy this card?

If by ATi X800XT you mean GeForce 6800 Ultra....then yes.
And for Civ IV, it's such a poorly coded game that it'll still run slowly...not to mention be buggy as hell.

No, the X800XT is the better card. Smaller, more software for it, and more affordable.
