Has nothing to do with gossip and everything to do with the demographics their work appeals to.

Those two look like they're going to Comic-Con together. That doesn't even look like Quinto.

Just horrible. Unless this is a pre pre prequel, or as mentioned, High School Star Trek Musical, there's no way that kid can be plausible as a captain. He's ensign material at best.

Even so, if they don't reverse the polarity on something during this movie, I will be very upset.

Not to mention they will be close to a core breech but the ejection system will be offline.
I also expect a rescue mission that involves beaming someone out last second.

Or, given the time period, a rescue mission that involves Kirk getting it on with a hot chick at the last second.

What's the over-under on number of red shirts getting killed in this movie?

He is playing Suli. Inetersting connection... In Harold and Kumar Neil Patrick Harris was in it playing a straight guy and later in reality to come out as a gay man. In Star Trek Harold is playing a straight character who in reality is gay.

Wait that's not really much of a connection but there ya have it.

The makeup on the old Kirk is worse. You can see where it ends near his hairline, and the eyebrows are tweezed off dramatically. The old Spock also has a vaudevillian dash of purple makeup under his own improbable eyebrows. Ridiculous indeed. I don't see exactly how this new arrangement falls short of previous standards.

Seriously, I'm scared they're going to botch it up too, but this thread has made me realize that the whiniest, most nit-picky two groups of people are Mac fans and Star Trek fans.

Add the two together, and...

Yes I guess we can't clone Shater and Nimoy, so everyone just chill out. most of you still think that science fiction started with Star wars. so lets don't go off half cocked and start saying crap until the movie is out. If you want to talk crap let's talk about the remake of War of the Worlds or the the new X file movie which should of been called (I want to be bored). Carter really blew it with this movie.

Well, went to see QoS today (good flick btw) and the Star Trek trailer was there... let me say that while it looks nothing like a Star Trek film, it's the first one since Generations that I've actually wanted to go see.

I think, as much as people are going to hate change, the franchise needed a shot in the arm. This just might do it.

I just saw the action-packed trailer before Quantum of Solace. I am SO there! As my son put it, "I don't care if it's canon or not, I'm going to see it." Yes, it impressed me that much.

(By the way, QoS really kicked serious @ss! I'm going to have to rent Casino Royale now...)

Really? I didn't like it. When it ended I was like...is it over? Something about it just doesn't feel like a proper Bond movie. Besides his phone, he used exactly zero gadgets. His car did nothing special - a couple of rockets out of the taillights would have made short work of the first scene.

It just seemed like another "agent goes rogue and must get the bad guy to clear his name" generic movie.

This is actually a concerted effort on their part. They're trying to be gritty and realistic. I can agree that by Brosnan the films sometimes stretched things too much, but still.

It does take away from making the movies feel Bondish, but I think Craig and his wooden acting were the worse change.

I don't care about gritty and realistic. I want to see Bond driving his car using his cellphone while lying in the back seat avoiding rockets fired by the bad guys. Bond is all about over the top.

I still think Tomorrow Never Dies has one of the best opening scenes - he single-handedly blows up an entire black market weapons meeting, then flies the nuclear-equipped jet out of the explosion.

IMO, Vanilla Sky really has the best opening scene. The way that it soars over NYC, and the intermitted black screen, then the Abre Los Ohos and... Radiohead.

edit: Then you see Tom Cruise half nekkid... yikes.

Particularly when compared to the rest of the movie (One of the lamest Bond villains with least interesting henchman ever?)
