This weekend is terrible for gaming for me but....
Next weekend March 6-8 is wide open for the start of my "spring" break,
i'll be stuck at PSU all weekend unable to go home due to work and it will be a ghost town so let meet up and play halo/gears/L4D/Something...

Halo 3 - One billionth game
The total matchmaking playtime to date, not including custom or offline matches, sits at 2,023,153,340,764 seconds, or over 64,000 years. That is a long time.

EDIT: Triple post, no replies = no one likes me

Nah, it just means MacNN folks have temporarily lost interest in the game. Sek is to busy with Fallout 3, Dakar is obsessed with Burnout Paradise & I'm to busy securing my lead in Left 4 Dead achievements.

I still say we should go for the Vidmaster Challenge: Annual achievement this weekend. But the chances of getting you to appear for a Halo meet-up are slim to none. You stood us up on the last 2 we had.... jerk.

Slick shoes?! Are you crazy?!

I wonder how much that number would increase if they included the time to gather up players & load/vote maps.

I completely forgot about our co-op campaign after all the multi a couple weekends ago.

I'm still up for doing Cortana, getting me the skull, and finishing out sek's Legendary achievement.

And the Vidmaster achievement from there.

I see Crosbie finally put his nose to grindstone the past few nights for the meta achieves. Did you really miss the Tsavo one by less than 200 points?

Funny, I felt the same way after seeing your Burnout Paradise achievements popping up in the feed.

Don't worry, not including the Mythic achievements, I only have 6 more remaining.

Free for all:
- 2 for 1 laser
- sword triple kill
- overkill

Legendary:
- 2 flag carrier kills
- 3 odd ball kills

Vidmaster Challenge: Anual - Which you jerks are in no hurry to get. It may have to come down to me doing a craiglist type post over in the Bungie forums. Kind of like what Ort888 did for RE5.

I have Fallout 3 achievements that need tending to!

That said, I'm down for some Sunday 360 action with you jerks.

Maybe finish up Legendary campaign and get the vidmaster ach. while doing it?

Yeah, I'll be picking up the map pack. I'm itching to play some sandbox.

Achievement update:
Got 2 of my remaining 6 achievements last night. All Legendary achievments are done. Only ones left are the FFA achievements and Annual. I can see those being a bitch to get. Oh well, at least I passed Bogues on achievement points.

If that doesn't get Bogues to start playing Halo 3 more frequently, nothing will.

That only happens if they restrict the common hoppers to mythic in the early going.

Someone, please. Please explain to me why you think Halo 3 is such a big deal. Because every time I touch it, I find myself painfully aware that I'm playing a game that just doesn't really do anything.

Let's compare it to the competition. Where Bioshock, Call of Duty 4 and Half-Life 2 have densely-textured, original environments, intelligent, layered stories, and multi-faceted, believably-realized personalities, Halo 3's much-vaunted "epic" plot pretty much consists of, "Here are the bad guys. Kill 'em, barely-characterised hero man!"

Where Gears of War and Counter-Strike facilitate rewarding, tactical play, Halo 3's meat-and-potatoes, run-and-gun simplicity is a basic, late '90s blandathon with less imagination than a dead cow. Where Quake 3 (and Quake Live) are lightning fast, heart-pounding tests of nerve and precision, Halo 3's sluggish pace and floaty physics make it feel like a "My first FPS" starter kit - the videogame equivalent of training pants for those wishing to play a proper shooter when they grow up.

The graphics? In a genre which drives - and is driven by - technology like no other, they're functional at best, as long as you can ignore the fact that the production design makes everything in this pseudo-dramatic tosh look like a Tonka toy. The enemies? Find me but one that looks threatening or behaves in a genuinely interesting way and you sir (or madam) get a shiny gold star and my eternal respect for achieving the impossible.

Halo 3 is a bog-basic, personality-deprived FPS-by-numbers, a flairless inspiration-void with absolutely nothing of its own to bring to the table bar a glorified level editor. It's the McDonald’s of FPS, and if the original Xbox's first-year line-up hadn't been so largely unexciting, it wouldn't have half the profile it has now.

Got the 2 for 1 laser achievement.... finally. It's hard getting this achievement the legit way when there's only 3 FFA maps containing lasers (High Ground, Snow Bound, Construct.) I got lucky with this shot.

Not only that but it was my last shot too.

I thought it was pretty well-known that Halo 3 was basically the multiplayer entry in the series. I've never heard anybody talk about how awesome its plot is. The other two Halo games had much better stories.

I;m more of the opinion that its moved away from the one-one combat to more of the vehicles. The BR battles can be a little monotonous, if not ridiculous on a map with spawn sightlines.
