ello,
I just preordered Mac OSX Leopard and I was wondering how I should proceed to backup my Mail.app 4000 emails so that they are not lost once the new system is installed...any idea?

If everything goes right the e-mails are not lost by installing a new system.
To backup your e-mail in case something goes wrong you would copy ~/Library/Mail and ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist to another disk or DVD. It would be best to have a backup of your whole home folder in any case.

Archive and Install or Upgrade and Install. Nothing should be lost. That said, do back up your messages as above.

Find a mail provider that will provide you with an IMAP server, if you can...
POP really is pretty dumb, I know why mail providers offer it (cheaper for them) but it sucks for end users.
