MobileMe auto-sync triggers

I noticed that, after doing some contact list and calendar editing, that the MobileMe sync did not trigger. After waiting a while, I triggered a manual sync.
It is set to sync automatically (as opposed to some fixed time interval). Does anybody know what the sync trigger is? Is there a minimum time span between syncs?
I'll pose this question directly to Apple later, but thought I'd start a discussion here first.

According to the docs, "Automatic" is supposed to sync on the fly and every hour. I too have not seen the "on the fly" sync happen yet, but the hourly does. I'm guessing it's simply turned off at the mother ship until things settle down...

So much for "push"...

I've turned off the sync for calendars and contacts until I can push the current versions from my Macbook onto my iPhone.

I've seen one-way pushes from the iPhone to the computer, but not the reverse. That said, email push appears to work on the mac and iPhone.

Thats because the email isn't really "push" its IMAP. Its just like checking your GMail account.

Unless you've installed the MobileMe update on your Mac, you don't have Push capability yet. The update adds push capability to Mail and the Sync services.

Real push-syncing doesn't exist in Mobileme.
Knowledgebase says:
Selecting Automatic in Mac OS X allows your computer to immediately sync and update when there are any changes on the MobileMe servers. Those changes can come from your iPhone, iPod touch, the MobileMe website, or another computer. Changes made on your computer will be synced to the MobileMe "cloud" once every 15 minutes (or every hour in Mac OS X 10.4.11).
Marketing says:
Push email, push contacts, and push calendar. Push keeps contacts up to date.
Ever been on the road without an important phone number? With MobileMe, your contacts are pushed to all your devices and everything stays up to date. Make a change on your computer, and MobileMe updates your iPhone automatically. Likewise, when you make a change on your iPhone, it’s instantly pushed to your computer. Changes you make are instantly pushed to all your devices so you’re always up to date.
False advertising anyone?

So is there an AppleScript that would force a sync process every minute instead of waiting 15 minutes?

I'm with some of the original posters in this thread. There service is probably getting hammered right now, so as preventative they disabled automatic and tacked on that last line in the KB until iPhone dust has settled.
Cheers,

Gmail supports push with the IMAP IDLE command; RIM (BlackBerry) uses it.

It's clearly pushed to the MobileMe cloud and to your iPhone/touch. The desktop apps appear to pick things up only every 15 minutes or, for mail, on your normal fetch schedule. I'm not sure why Mail can't get email pushed to it if the iPhone can.

When the iPhone 3G was first announced, i thought they said push/sync wasn't going to come until September.

I know they mentioned that for the IM services part, but I don't know if that applied to MobileMe in general.
