Hey everybody...

If you run the Software Base Station in Jaguar, can you connect to it with a pc laptop using 802.11b? I know that if you have a regular basestation, that you can obviously use any kind of machine with a wi-fi card in it to connect. However, I was just wondering if this is possible using a pc when connected to a Software BaseStation?

For some reason, I think that when you use the Software BaseStation, it is "Apple Only" in terms of connectivity of other machines... Did I read that somewhere or imagining it? I have a pc laptop from work with a wi-fi card and if I can spend just the $100 to get an airport card and be able to use it wireless at home, that would be very cool.. I already have Jag installed, but just don't have an airport card in my imac yet...

Any help would be great!
Thanks!

yup, that indeed does work. I have an FP iMac. All you need to do is to install a Aiport Card inside. Turn on Internet Sharing in System preference. I plugged a SMC 802.11b PCMCIA card into my DELL laptop. ( of course being a windoze machine you gotta install the drivers first...etc...) but that all folks. The drawback is that you cannot use encryption. At least I was not able to get it to work using it. I set the channel to auto detect ( in the DELL) Each card maker has their own program for the wireless card. So to answer your question, YES it does work!! email me if you got any problems.....
