Just opened a pdf inside OmniWeb with a brand-new PDF Browser PlugIn installed... am shocked to finally see a OS X app that scrolls really nicely and smoothly.

Why can't any Browser scroll html like that? Or Adobe's own Acrobat apps and Apple's Preview?

Gorgeous, and very OS X like.

Mozilla 1.4a and recent nightlies of Camino can. To turn on smooth scrolling in Mozilla 1.4a type

about:config

into the URL bar and add "general.smoothScroll" with a Boolean value of true. To turn on smooth scrolling in Camino add

user_pref("general.smoothScroll", true);

to the user.js file.

While we're at it: I have one user reporting the PDF Browser Plugin print settings (scaling, odd/even pages) in the print dialog not working.

Is that (not) working for anybody else?

Thanks for the tip!
It's still not as beautiful as PDF Plugin, though. I notice I keep scolling long documents for the sheer joy of it
Especially clicking inside the scrollbar to have the ultra-smooth scroll to next page (not to forget the luxurious page number display) is bliss.

Apple, take note!

PS: Print settings seem to work just fine here. Thanks for this outstanding pice of software, manfred!

I believe HTML with animations, plugins, and non moving (sometimes even transparent) layers is more complex to render/scroll than PDF. At least compared to the limited way Quartz renders PDF.

But I'm impressed by how smooth IE6 on Windows can scroll. Has anyone compared how smooth scrolling compares between Mozilla and IE6 on Windows?

Thanks for looking at the print options. I was fearing it's working for me only maybe. I'll now claim it's an isolated incident.

Don't mention that.
IE6/XP on Virtual PC feels smoother with scrolling than any OSX browser does.

I am using the Kensington PocketMouse Pro Optical mouse and can't get PDF Plugin 1.1.1 to scroll for me when viewing .pdfs via the browser....any idea? I have to manually "push" the page up and down to view it's contents.

Any idea?

Nasrudin sat on a river bank when someone shouted to him from the opposite side: "Hey! how do I get across?" "You are across!" Nasrudin shouted back.

The plugin supports the mouse wheel in all Carbon browsers. But it's not possible to do so for Cocoa browsers.

There's a Camino bug on it, that should explain why.

You can still use the scroll bar.

This problem concerns only those users who would like to use the mouse wheel for scrolling.
