A lot of companies have updated there sites with info on how to help the flood victums. I am currently updating my sites and sending a request to the sites I host to allow me to do the same. Apple has already done this www.apple.com and I think MacNN should follow. It may end up being a small effort but small efforts can go along way.

I am personally missing one friend in the flood area, and a friend knows 2 people missing. A lot of people have been affective bby the floods and I think we should all help out any way we can.

Great idea!

On that note - if someone wants to include something like this on their site and needs a suitable graphic - banners, etc. - I'd be more than happy to donate a few hours of my time to put something together (as I'm sure most of my fellow pixel-pushers here would). Just post a note here or send me a PM.

Ive updated my site http://www.walkergreenwood.com/ What shocks me is that no one else thought of this. To be honest I was thinking about puting a link on my site a day ago. But seeing Apple do it is why i created this link and actually made the changes on my site.

I am guessing that the death count will number 85 000 for direct deaths and up to 300 000 from deases and other factors when this is all over. What makes this so much worse then other events is the number of places affected.

I just read that European countries nationals are high on the missing person's list, with Sweden taking the brunt (around 1500 missing Swedes). So many nations around the world will be affected by this tragedy.

I got one of my clients to do it, it didn't take any convincing they just didn't realise they were in a position to do something

http://www.mobilegamefaqs.com/newsstory.php?id=48

They're gonna try and put some banners elsewhere on the site as well - one on the front page

http://www.mobilegamefaqs.com/

halfway down the page, better than nothing I suppose

Yes! However, I don't have a personal website. I did post it on some other forums.

BTW, Microsoft.com wasn't part of it as last checked.

[edit]: MS did it.

Cleaned up the page a tad bit...

...just making sure - it did happen on Sunday, 26th, right? Not to sound ignorant! I searched through the news pages and thats what they were saying. I just don't want to send out the wrong message! ("support these sites, but I don't know what the hell I'm talking about")

I know this is very horrible and all, but I mean, just because the media are going all crazy about this, is doesn't mean that there aren't anybody suffering in ex. Africa...

It's ofcourse all done in a good meaning, but why didn't this happened when the crises in Darfur (Africa) began ? According to Wikipedia 71.000 have died from starvation and disease, but nobody changes their website of that reason, and the media does not have extra news shows for that reason. At least not here in Denmark.

We in Denmark are also affected, about 500 danes are missing including 4 of my friends so it's not because I haven't got a 'relation' to this disaster.

They just declared it a national disaster here in Denmark... It's sad, very sad. I guess I won't see my friends ever again.

Well, I'm off to a new years party,

Have a safe evening.

I personally see a big difference between failed countries and natural disasters. In a blink of a eye 5 million people are in danger or homeless, hundreds of thousands dead and more will die with out immediate help. Countries that are trying, who don't need such a big set back. Countries that are asking and accepting help. War zones are a different story. It could take up to 5 billion to rebuild, so far not even a billion has been raised yet.
