Is it pretty easy to watch while you're on the treadmill or elyptical? I've been thinking of getting an ipod video so i can import my TV collection and watch it as i do my cardio, then listen to my music when i do the weights . . . .

Any shared experience will be helpful! i.e. the ipod fuzzes out if too close to the treadmills due to the static electricity (I'm completely making this up for an example, so don't start spreading rumors )

Thanks Everyone!

er, I wouldn't go shaking it while running (as it will inevitably happen), as it IS an HDD based iPod. Dunno about the video, but I'd think it'd be a bit hard to hold it, pay attention to it, enjoy it, compensate for the shaking, and run at the same time.

The hard drive would have to run, but if the treadmill or machine was large enough, I think it could handle the vibration. I also prefer screens that are farther away when exercising - less bounce. Otherwise my body bouncing makes it difficult to watch the video.

Still, this is an interesting idea. Lets try it.

If you work out and have a 5th Gen iPod, check out "iPod Gym" -

http://somatotype.net/iPod_Gym/index.html

It's is an extensive set of iPod ready videos which show how to do various exercises with free weights, machines, Swiss Ball, and general stretching.

They've been put together by qualified sport and fitness researchers at the University of Auckland, New Zealand. All free.

Interesting link. Unfortunately, they didn't have any instructional videos on how to jog: Something I've always wanted to learn.

i still use my shuffle over my ipod 4gen in the gym even when i am lifting. i wouldn't recommend using the video just because it is HD based. it can easily shake loose a part and ruin the thing.

I used my thrid gen. for over a year at the gym with no probs. On occasion, it would skip if I running hard for a while, but it never crashed or anything. I switched my 3rd gen. for a mini and it was the same. I would not worry about it.

I've used one of those grippy rubber pads (don't recall what they're really called) to rest my iPod on a treadmill console so it wont slide off. Worked just fine.

Edit: This thing... http://www.handstands.com/retail/com...ickypad.shtml#
