At least someone gets a clue!

The only time I have ever laughed at someone's name was colonel panic.

well, I am bored so I will tell where my name came from. Many many years ago, one day at school my Science techer was sick one day. (sorry to remind everyone of that place, ) Well the sub was asking everyone our naemes, there was about 8 of us, so we all switched names to mess with her. Well, since my name is John I used Juan, I then added Valdes (well Valdez is the real way) because of the I needed a last name and it went with the coffee dude and a guy in "Clear and Present Danger". Thus Juanvaldes was born.

well, I am still bored so here goes some more...
I have juanvaldes instead of juanvaldez because someone at excite allready had juanvaldez so I setteled for juanvaldes.

*end pointelss rant*

yeah, Colonel Panic wins for me...

...but I'm mentioned all over the place. My name was the answer of a recent $250,000 question on the "Millionare" game show.

Also, check out "Ultra Lingua" at the bottom right of this Apple.com page:

Of course, Col. Panic goes without saying.... .

I would have to say, my name. NO, it's not from Disney. It has a totally different reason for coming into play.

Quad= stood for the 16 speakers my 93 honda accord had in it.
Z= Zoom it went pretty fast
Modo = mobile..

Quadzmodo= was born!
It's just my humble opinion.

G4cubert.

cubert..... I actually chuckled when I read that. I first thought of Pubert, from Addams Family Values, the G4 Cube, and Hubert. Then I remembered Qbert. And I was like, whoa! Comedy, Thy NAME is KRUSTY. Good name.

Well, not really. When I was in that phase of my life QUAD meant major bass. I had 8 subs 1 15, 3-12's 5-8's running off of you guessed it 4 amps. All Phenoix Gold amps which kind I really don't remember seeing that it's been over 7yrs.

Well the Quadzy-mobile died tragically, when my girlfriend or fiancee now rear ended my car on the way to the shop to get everything tweak for what was to be a glorious weekend of audio competition.

Trunk wouldn't close, crossover blew amps speakers ruined. I'll see if I can find some pictures of the event. It was pretty horrible . Although I missed the sound, I felt really bad for the guys whom designed my system, they put a lot of work into it. I had speakers everywhere, molded into panelling, my rear seat had been tastefully butchered so that the 12's could pertrude.

I miss that car. Damn fiancee!

Oh yeah, her insurance didn't total the car, but that's okay. They paid me 5k to get it fixed bastards and 15k for all my audio equipment. My estimates ranged in the 20k..lol.. It pays to know all the audio shop managers.

Anyway, after that catastrophe, I gave up that life style. I bought a nice P2 with the money and saved the rest for school. Now that I'm out *not really* I'm buying macs and all is well.

I'm so hurt no-one's voted for mine. I gave abloody expalnation and everthing in the old screen-names explanation thread a few weeks back. Perhaps it isn't as clever as I thought.

Anyhow, my vote, again goes for the infamous 'Skywalker's watch'
Plus 'Cipher13' isn't bad but it is probably a bit too clichd, like mine appears to have been branded.

I sometimes go as 'The Pheasant Plucker', which is not an entirely obscure anagram!

The full name is Dogma Brapp;alt.e,
the second name comes from my fascination with 'Brap' music (a phrase coined by Skinny Puppy), the 'alt' comes from the now aging method of naming 'off-beat' websites, and the 'e' just went in to add a touch of curiosity...

The explanations could go on forever...

Ahh, no votes for me...

See, it's pronounced "Tennis Fan..." you know, like...

Oh, forget it, I'm going to go beg Colonel Panic to sell me his user name!

Do I at least get some credit for posting praise of Colonel Panic's name long before this thread ever started?

And has anyone noticed that Mr. Panic seems to be long gone? I don't know if he even realizes how popular that name is.

Over at AI I used to be gwrjr33 too - not terribly clever, I know. (If I could reregister here without losing my meager post count I'd be "the kicker of elves".) Then during one of AI's numerous outages my account got hosed so I registered with a new name:

President-for-life
AI Cult of the Mooney Suzuki
Captain Badass

The name came from a song by Songs Ohia. (Songs Ohia's real name is Jason Molina.) Anyway over at Ars I'm neomac33. I noticed that there's a NeoMac here. Don't know if he or she got that idea from me or not.

Names I like:
those various skywalker names,
Colonel Panic,
maxelson - even though it's not terribly original it has a good sound to it,
cheerios,
thirtyfootsmurf,
cipher13,
DoctorGonzo,
not_dark_yet,
plaidpjs,
xeo,
olepigeon,
juanvaldes,
mugwump,
pobodysnerfect,
thisiswhatIthink,
OllO,
parallax,
thirtyfootsmurf,
eep!,
MaDTOol,
68k,
el matteo,
kaboom,
Blue Meanie...

I'll probably think of more after I post this but this is a pretty good list.

Same here, I've been nicknamed Dogma since 1992, then bloody Kevin Smith goes and ruins it all. At least the film wasn't as popular as The Matrix, so less people make the connection. But I got it for a while before it came out-
"Why would anyone want to make a film about you?"
"Oh yeah, a film about Dogma, the last thing he needs is an ego-boost"

and so on.

Oh yeah and here's a small history of my username (originally posted 6th April 2001.)

I don't think Colonel Panic is all that funny. I mean, I didn't even groan when I read that nick for the first time. It seemed so obvious. It bounced off me... I never thought it was all that witty. It amazes me it's at the top of the list.
