Apparently, at minute maid, homer distance is judged by the point of impact to home plate in a straight line. If they had used the trajectory method, we'd have an accurate measurement.

Well, Minute Maid used to be Enron Field, so it would make sense for the math not to make sense.

Looks like it'a about time to tear down Busch, all it's seen lately is Other Teams clinching champoinships on their turf.

Congrats to the Astros!

Cards hit .209 this series. .190 in the world series last year. Cards are the new Atlanta Braves. Great regular season, suck post-season.

Overall, I like Houston more than the ChiSox but the thought of Clemens winning another World Series (and maybe retiring as Series MVP) is a little distasteful.

I've done a lot of analysis, but I've decided that in the end...whichever team scores more runs, is going to win the game. And whichever teams wins the most games, is going to win the World Series.

Stupid umpires that don't know the difference between a ball hitting a bat and hitting a person
Stupid White Sox players that should be playing in LA because they're such good actors
Stupid Astros bullpen that isn't playing as well has they have all season and in the first two rounds

There I feel better now.

Good teams take advantage of mistakes of others, and play through mistakes of their own.
Houston did neither.

Maybe focus on Pierzinsky's hit that should have ben caught against the wall in left field. Or maybe that the White Sox messed up their base running on that play and still only had runners on first and second. But then Houston negated that by letting them score. And Biggio's drop of the fly ball to 2nd?

Maybe think about those plays instead of stressing about a bad call, when the way he was pitching he likely woulda walked Dye or hit him on the next pitch anyway.

The umpire didn't leave the ball over the middle of the plate for our best hitter on the next pitch.

If we're going to nitpick, why is Fox not showing replay after replay of Iguchi getting picked off first? Looked close enough for him to have been potentially safe, even after an obvioius balk. Where was the slow-mo, zoomed in analysis of that?

Through 2 games, Houston's been outplayed, not out-acted. Quit the bitching.

After the HBP, the Astros switched pitchers. The first pitch from Qualls was the GS. Like I said, our bullpen hasn't been stepping up these first two games like they did in the DS and CS. That misplay by Burke was in the same inning as Ensberg's misplay that was called a hit but was really an error. Our defense definately was off that inning.

Fox didn't keep showing replays of the pickoff because while close, it wasn't glaringly obvious. Half of the bat Dye was using was painted black, and that part was where the ball hit. Even at full speed you could see that it didn't hit Dye.

What balk? When he stepped off the mound to clean his shoes?

It's still a great series. Both teams are scoring a lot more runs than I thought the pitching would allow. It's our first trip there, and I'm enjoying every minute of it. Got tickets to Game 3 tomorrow!

I was at game 2 and that was one messed up game for us.
It was a heartstopper but I spent more frustrated than happy during the game.

Buehrle pitched a horrible game. We only stayed in it because of the Astros fielding errors which gifted us the first two runs. The grandslam was great but that would have only tied it if the Astros hadn't botched it prior to that. Thinking Jenks was experienced enough to throw two nights in a row and not be affected by the hype was a mistake made for the sake of good theater. Great arm but he was over confident and wasn't concentrating like he was in game one when he was still a little unsure. Maybe it was the god awful weather but if we pitch like that again we are done for.

Lidge is a good closer. He isn't inconsistent with his throws. He may have a poor decision making process in which of his pitches to throw his last two outing but I think he will be more conservative his next game.

If we lose any game in this series tonight may be it. Oswalt is the better pitcher and our starters haven't lived up to their performance from the Angels series. With Clemens gone we have a better staff now and they really need to perform like they had been in the playoffs before the WS.

Well, as I had predicted, my Yankees were first round knockouts.

Don't blame A-Rod like the retard fans are doing. Blame the pitching. 40 million dollars worth of it went down the tank this year. (Pavano, Brown, Wright).

Looks like this is the year of the White Sox. Great pitching on both teams, though.

I say White Sox in seven.

Jenks is already done. If worse comes to worse, I guess you can throw Contreras out there if this goes to the 20th inning.

Yeah, throw strikes. You throw a ball and it's an automatic run. You throw a strike and you got a chance for an out and getting out of the jam.

Though I'm not complaining.

Was a great game, even though we lost. Game didn't end till almost 2 am! I had tickets to the game and it was everything I had hoped (except for winning of course). There's nothing like being at the first World Series game ever played in Houston.

Hats off to the White Sox. They're a good team and are certainly playing like they want this more.

So is there equal outrage on the Jason Lane "not quite a home run" home run?
Because that was a far more influential mistake since it accounted for a run on its own without further achievement by other players unlike all the other calls people got up in arms about.

There would have been no extra innings without that and almost no one even talked about it today.

And lastly,
How is this a concern: http://www.nbc5.com/sports/5180111/d...94&dppid=65192

10% is about proportional to the population in the country. If anything they are over represented in professional sports. People should be glad there is more of an effort to recruit talent outside the country as it will help spawn interest in the sport abroad. Which is good since viewership seems to be down in the U.S.

Yeah, I saw that, and I'm shocked that given all the focus on other umpiring problems, that one wasn't given more attention. It might have been because the ball cleared the bottom wall, so most reasonable people who saw the play would have assumed that it was a home run. But the yellow line is there for a reason, and all the umpires would have known the ground rules of the park.

They still have six umpires for postseason games, right? I was very suprised that one of them (most likely the LF line ump) didn't see the play properly.

It's still not as bad as the trapped ball call during the ALCS, though, because nobody on the field misinterpreted the ump's call once he made it.

... or more to the point, the ump didn't change his call after he made it. I still can't get over that first base that shouldn't have been first base call.

Anyway: I hope that the Astros win at least *ONE* game this series.

The second year in a row that I get to say, congrats Sox!

Mr. Lidge has blown enough key saves (and tie games), I think he's qualified to pitch relief for the Mets next year.
