Something very strange is going on on my iBook's screen. On the right hand side of the screen, just below the menubar, there is this "blob" shaped thing that looks like its creeping out from the edge of the screen. It's not very noticeable unless you have a white window there as it kind of has a blue hue. It's not very big and it doesn't come out to the Spotlight icon so it's pretty narrow (well, it has varying widths). Anyhow. I don't know what it is or how it is occuring. Nothing else is wrong. It doesn't inhibit my daily activies. It's just weird that the colour is strange right in that space.

Is it about the size of a thumb? I've seen where people have "grabbed" an LCD, causing damage.
If you have a digital camera, post an image.

No, it's not thumb sized or shaped. I'll try to get a picture but I don't know how well it will come out.

That is odd.
Have you had the Ibook from new or did you buy it second hand?
It could be the due to liquid damage.
Have you tried cleaning it? It's 'drip' shaped.

I bought the iBook new in October 2003. I cleaned my screen with iKlear. It didn't do anything to the splotch.

This is moisture under the LCD... it gets in between the panel and the backlight. Often people spray Windex and such directly on the screen, as opposed to the cloth, and end up with similar results. Unless the liquid is petroleum-based, it will most likely it will dry out within a few days, a week at the most, leaving little to no residue.

If it's liquid it has to be iKlear as that's the only liquid that's been near my iBook. Hopefully things will go back to normal in a few days. Thanks for the helpful response!!

Reminds me of the lady who dried her cat in the microwave oven.
