The fingerprint smudges would be obscene.

Being in debt and celebrating a lower deficit is like being on a diet and celebrating the fact you gained two pounds this week instead of five.

It's widescreen and has an iSight.
I want the widescreen iPod. H.264 rocks. And I echo the sentiment that the smudgability quotient is too high for that black MacBook.
I must say I'm impressed at the quality of this mockup (complete with video). I wonder how long it took.

Oh hell no. No colorware foolishness. Something slick, like the black RAZR's finish would look pretty hawt on the Macbook Pro though, dontcha think?

Colors aside, I like the form factor. Do they have Core Duos in them?

I love the black powerbook. Apple needs to go back to black. I think the Aluminum looks cheap.

I think the Aluminum 'Books look superior to any other laptop Apple has ever released, but that's just me. I don't think I'm biased though, since I've never owned an AluBook. I have owned iBooks and a TiBook.

I agree. The Aluminum *Books are by far the best looking laptop I've seen.
I do like the ipod finish on the iBook though, that looks neat.

For some reason I hate the look of the Aluminum powerbooks. I think the keyboard looks cheap and flimsy and it throws the whole thing off.

Weird. Doesn't look that way to me. Looks are definitely deceiving, though, the keyboard is solid and easier to type on than most normal computer keyboards. I also love the backlight.

This popped up on Engadget today.
My guess is an iPod video running a slimmed-down Front Row.
Although my drunken tech lust is hoping for a macTablet with mobile versions of Front Row, iWork, Mail, Safari, iCal, and Address Book and Bluetooth/WiFi (with WPA support) along with SSH/VNC/VPN to connect to your mac at home.

Yeah, the keyboard works great, I just don't like the look of it. I really like the stylings of the TiBook, Pismo and iBook though. I think it's just something about my aesthetic tastes.

Stop teasing me!
Friday doesn't sound like a realistic launch date, though, so whoever leaked this photo seems to have jumped the gun. I wonder if this'll just be an iPod video or whether it'll have bona fide PDA functionality (i.e., Newton 2).
This could be Apple's version of the Palm LifeDrive.

I really liked the translucent keyboards on the G3 PoweBooks. Did the TiBook have translucent keys? My brother had one, I seem to recall they were slightly transparent.

Just a fact checking heads up...
The barcode sticker on that iPod is found on Mac OS X Jaguar Server.

The only thing that bugs me about that image is the weird bulky looking cord attached at the right side. Doesn't look very Appleish at all.

That is a subject of debate, depending on how you interpret the characters. If you read it beginning "MB..." that would be consistent with current iPods.
The text reads 'This Way' according to my Chinese friend.

The cable could just be a 3rd party one. I have several 3rd party cables and they all look quite different from the Apple one.
And that "8" looks like a "B" to me.
You can't blame a guy for hoping can you?
Even if they do release this as an iPod, I can only hope the interface isn't as annoying as the 3G iPod's.

Nope. If the second character was an 8, you would be right. Upon further inspection, they determined that to be a "B" which follows in the path of the current iPod part numbers, "MA002LL/A".

the connector also looks like it has 2 different cable joining at the connection, just means theres another thing you have to sacrifice a port to. My roomates iriver is like that, I think its dumb.

I love the Apple rumor frenzies. What I meant was that an awful lot of effort goes into some of these mockups. ie, iWalk.
