I'm still trying to figure out why, but I'm always slightly irritated when someone texts me "okay".

Am I alone in this?

And in spoken use, has a ridiculous number of ways you can vary the tone.

It's dorky, but I go "copy" or "copy that".

Abbreviating p/a is extremely p/a.

I use the Dick Cheney method: "go f**k yourself"

but the plain "okay" doesn't bother me.

I'm not sure of the etymology behind it, but the definition is available on urbandictionary, which i can't access at work.

Urban Dictionary: kk

So, you're making your first ventures as an online gamer, and you keep seeing this odd expression "kk" and “KK”. People chat in the online game, sending kk messages left and right.

Well, this peculiar acronym expression stands for "Ok" or "message acknowledged". It is the same as nodding in person or saying "gotcha".

The other bit of history behind "kk" is the 1990's expressions "k, kewl". Translated, this expression meant "ok, cool", but was stylistically spelled otherwise. "k, kewl" undoubtedly also influenced the use of kk in today's online chatting.

The kk expression, like many other Internet expressions, is part of online conversation culture.

Reminder: 90% of the time, these expressions are typed in all lowercase letters. On selective occasions, you are welcome to use them in all capitals to express enthusiasm. Just remember not to type entire sentences in all caps, lest you be considered rude.
"K, kewl."

This.

If I want someone to realize they're being repetitive or wasting time, I'll respond, "Sure." It makes them stop and wonder, "Is he being dismissive? Should I stop talking? Is he being rude? Should I ask him if he's upset? Who says, 'Sure," anymore?" It's always a conversation killer.

If you really cared you would've left work for me.

It's pretty much 'gotcha'. Which really can't be misconstrued as dismissive like 'okay'.

Another text conundrum...

I usually say, "Gracias," instead of "Thanks," or "Thank you," because the latter two sound a bit too formal at times. Replying in Spanish makes it feel slightly less odd. I'm probably making things more awkward.

If I know someone, I'll use "TY!"

If I dont, it'll be along the lines of "thanks so much!"

I'll also use "gracias!" or "danke!"

Don't use "merci!" or "grazie!" for whatever reason.

I use exclamation points a lot in texts!

I only text pictures of my privates. The recipient has to discern my response based on the tone and framing of my junk pics.

My sig is 1 pixel too big.

That's because it sounds pretentious unless you're actually French or Italian.

Actually, with French, it sounds that way regardless.

I use exclamation points a lot in texts!
Because everything seems subdued in texts. That's why I usually say, "HAHAHAHAAAA" if something is funny. "LOL" seems polite.

I just realized I use "sure", but it's usually with an exclamation point, and only in regards to someone asking me if I'll do something, or asking to borrow something.
