As this is MBP specific I think it's OK to post the question in this forum.

I'm really impressed with the Mac drivers in XP, all of them seem to 'just work' (excuse the split infinitive). The exception is the volume control (F3-F5). The function keys don't seem to do anything, either on their own or in conjunction with modifier keys. In fact, even the master volume control in the system tray seems dysfunctional (it makes a difference in volume levels, but only marginally).

Anyone else having the same problems?

Apple doesn't provide any drivers for their "stuff" (iSight, special keyboard, ALS, etc), only for the parts they buy "OTS" (GPU, chipset, wifi, etc).

As for the master volume control, open up the volume control panel and see if waveout or simiar is set very low.
