From MacAddict Magazine this month......
"Is Tetris hidden inside Mac OS X? Why, yes! And, if you are running Panther, you can play it in color! First, launch Terminal, and type the word emacs, press Return, press Esc, and then type x to access the extended command mode. Type tetris and press Return. You're in! Use the arrow keys to spin the pieces and the spacebar to drop them."
Have Fun!

Well, it's not really an easter egg of OS X. Instead, think of it as a feature of the incredibly bloated but amazing emacs.

Damn, that is hard to play since the basic units are rectangles instead of squares.
And yeah, that's not an easter egg of OS X.

Very interesting find.

It's a bugged up version!
Did someone say Pong? It's a bit slow.
Now type 'doctor' and welcome to your psycho-the-rapist. Swearing at him comes up with interesting results.

Okay, pong with the arrow keys sucks.
My god, I wasted a huge chunk of my life on Tetris back when I had my Centris 610. I came to one day, and swore off games entirely. Still, that's kinda cool. My favorite unix trick is still the telnet.blinkenlights ascii Star Wars movie, though. People's jaws always hit the floor when they see that.

This isn't so much an easter egg as it is a feature *smirk*. Just about every BSD user who knows their way around the park has played tetris in the terminal

Not really an easter egg of the OS. It's just that Emacs is an OS that thinks it's a text editor.

Yep, it is quite cool to see for the first time though . There's also an interesting text-based adventure game in there - type dunnet for that.

Not quite.
Actually emacs would be a great OS if somebody included a decent text editor with it.

the emacs "doctor" also looks nice. Although people seem to be having some difficulty communicating with it
From here: http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel.../msg02136.html
I am the psychotherapist. Please, describe your problems. Each time
you are finished talking, type RET twice.
I have too much work to do.
Why do you say you have too much work to do?
I stay busy all the time.
Is it because of your plans that you say you stay busy all the time?
No, it's because of my job.
Are you sure that is the real reason?
Are you calling me a liar?
Maybe your job have something to do with this.
That's what I said.
What makes you believe that's what you said?
Scroll up.
Is it because of your life that you say scroll up?
No, it's because you've forgotten already how this conversation started.
Is it because I have forgotten already how this conversation started
that you came to me?
That's not possible. You forgot how this started AFTER we started talking.
Does it bother you that this started after you started talking?
We. You and I.
Is it because of the people you hang around with that you are going
through all this?
No. It's your fault.
Are you sure that it's my fault?
Yes. I hate you.
Why do you hate me?
apt-get remove doctor
Earlier you said I have forgotten already how this conversation
started?
Argh ...

If you think that's hilarious try this:
Hi
How do you do? What brings you to see me?
I have a problem.
Why do you say you have a problem?
Because I have.
Can you elaborate on that?
I find it hard to open up to new people.
What makes you believe that?
Experience.
I would appreciate it if you would continue.
I get introverted under pressure.
Maybe your plans have something to do with this.
You tell me. You're the doctor.
Is it because of your life that you say I tell you I am the doctor?
No, you are a doctor.
Are you sure that I am a doctor?
Not now.
Is it because you are a doctor that you came to me?
I am not a doctor.
Is it because of the people you hang around with that you are going
through all this?
Oh **** off.
Are you afraid of sex?
Only with your mother.
Tell me something about my family.
They suck.
Perhaps you could watch your tongue!

No, as opposed to the really cool arcade version, with the big, black knobs. I'm so old, I can remember when Space Invaders was the cool new game that was going to knock Pong off of its pedestal.
