Don't fool with it. You should be able to get a fully working G5 around there for $500.

No, you don't have any RAM, it's clearly one of the smallest/slowest models, because it has only four RAM slots, not eight. There is no graphics card, no optical drive, no harddrive. You'd have to buy all that. Plus, the whole machine looks pretty mangled. I have no idea whether it can be fixed, but even the inside of the heat sink looks damaged. (Keep in mind that the G5 uses a liquid cooling unit, if that is broken, you have to pay a lot of money to get a replacement.

What do you do you with your Mac?
If you are stripped for cash and don't need all your harddrives to be very fast, you can also get an iMac or a Mac mini with Intel cpu. Cpu-wise, they'll be faster than the G5s and they're cheaper. If you get an iMac, you can also put in faster desktop harddrives. You can connect external harddrives to expand your storage capacity.

Then get an Intel-based Mac mini with remote control
They're much quieter than the G4-based variety (my parents had both).

That's a junker again.
Any Intel-based Mac with a Core Duo will be great (avoid first-gen Mac minis with Core Solo). Also, Japanese stores have huge areas with a wide selection of used Macs. You should be able to get a Mac with some warranty for a decent price there.

If all you want is to hook it up to your TV, a Mac mini would save space and you don't need the second screen anyway.

It's missing all ram, video cards as well as the CPUs and liquid cooling system. Buy another one just like it can turn them into bookshelves.

You probably knew this, but if it's a low-end G5 model, it's not going to have liquid cooling. Only the top-end G5 models had liquid cooling and as you said, this is a low-end model because it only has 4 RAM slots.

You're right, I wasn't sure whether the low-end dual processor models had liquid cooling (it's been a while).

Only the 2.5 and the 2.7 were liquid cooled, IIRC.

This one doesn't have an Intel processor, you're looking for a Mac mini with a Core Duo or a Core 2 Duo, not a Mac mini with a G4 (at least if you want to run Windows on it).
