2 new themes are available at http://www.imacfreak.net/sloth/osx/osx.html

ProSoft Plastic is a mod; a cross between Pro Plastic by Kevin MacLeod and Soft Aqua by TJR.

Spotlight is a 90% original theme, with elements used from Max Rudberg (I can't remember where I got the Finder labels from... if anyone knows, please contact me so I can give the proper credits at [email protected])

Enjoy

Both themes are great. I'm using one on my work G5 and the other on my Powerbook. Excellent work.

Notice how the "Show All" toolbar item is on the far right, and the toolbar items have no text, so you can fit more on at once. I also made a custom group for all of the Unsanity haxies.

That's cool. I'd like to know how to do that toolbar sorting. All I did to hide the icon names in the toolbar was hold cmnd while clicking the little widget on the far right of the titlebar. I did nothing with .plists or the theme itself.

~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.systempreferences.plist

That pretty much explains how I did the toolbar... If you don't have the developer tools installed, you'll need them. I'll post some info on how to edit the pane categories later.

Thanks a lot. Spotlight is my first theme ever, and all the positive feedback really helps motivate me to create more. I've got some ideas floating around, but for the time being I'm concentrating on improving Spotlight, including working on a Graphite version.

Glad you all like it

actually, i like the prosoft plastic more than spotlight. prosoft has some really neat elements like the min/max/close and the metal feel is great. i am also going to have to check out the originals you pulled this stuff from - cool ideas!

Both themes are SUPER NICE. I love them. But I prefer ProPlastic, it's less 'flashy', more professionnal, more usable too.

Great job man.

May I suggest bringing the Graphite Apple from ProSoft Plastic into Spotlight Graphite ? The white Apple seems too big IMHO.
And please, don't ever make me choose between these two splendid themes - I'm a Libra...

Soft Aqua and Pro Plastic are definitely my 2 favorite themes of all time. I loved them both so much I had to combine the best aspects of both. The min/max/close buttons just felt right for me for several months and it took me awhile to get used to Spotlight's widgets. Both tjr and kevin macleod have a keen eye for great theme design and feel.

Better than anything I've come up with... Although since I like to think of it as a rubbery theme, I'd like the name to have something to do with rubber...

Nice themes, but I can't stand there not being a name in the title bar of iChat IMs. Another theme maker said it was SS's fault... but still...

Otherwise, good stuff!

This is going off-subject from Spotlight, but I don't mind throwing out names for your new theme. Rubber, eh?... Here's a couple:

prOSthesis

ProSthesis

Gum Graphite

Man... it's hard to make rubber sound cool.

ProSoft Plastic is not dead. Because of the positive response I'm currently working on minor GUI enhancements for ProSoft Plastic. It should be complete by the weekend.

Umm, really, ProSoft Plastic is not Kevin Macleods theme. Granted, he did make the window title bar widgets and the tab bar, most of the resources are from Max's Brushed. I would ask him for permission to post it on some place other than his "User Modded Theme" section.

Anyways, Ive always liked Pro Plastic, and this new one looks interesting. Nice

Thanks for bringing that to my attention. I hadn't realized I may have crossed the boundaries of good themeing etiquette. I was under the impression that permission to post it there was permission to post it anywhere. I guess I kinda see the internet as one big hodge podge of information, and one link always leads to another and another, etc. At any rate, I do make certain to thank Max for elements in the ReadMe file that is linked both here and in Max's forum. Guess I should have read the rules on his site more carefully beforehand. I will pull the theme from my site until I have permission to do otherwise.

Thanks

Okay, well... I realized I wasn't supposed to post links outside of MaxThemes forum because 99% of the theme is someone else's, especially Max's. So here's a link to the forum, which has a link to the download.

http://www.funmac.com/showthread.php?t=7448&page=3

At the bottom of the page there.

hiya! just a question, are you continuing work on prosoftplastic? i was wondering about the aqua scrollbars, any chance of getting those cool spotlight ones in here, or some kind of plasticized variation?

Actually I had a version with the Spotlight scroll bars in there for awhile, but it just didn't look right. I would like to get some plastic looking ones in there, but I've just been too busy to do anything lately. I made some plastic ones awhile back but they were all buggy... I don't know if you remember the first version of ProLCD, but it did the same thing, where the scroll bar would jump back and forth by itself. Perhaps sometime in the next month or so I'll get around to making some new ones... but for some reason creating scroll bars is one of the hardest things for me to do.
