Hey guys,

I am a college student and it is about time that I get a new computer for school. I have been looking at the 24" iMac from ClubMac for $1350.00. I was wondering if now is a good time to buy or if I should hold off for a bit. I know the new Intel i7 processors have been out for a little bit and was wondering if they will be in new iMacs coming out soon or if that is still in the distant future. Please help me out!

Thanks.

This is probably a good time to buy. You can't pin anything down with Apple. The lineup is not going to change until probably at least October (famous last words; I used to work at Apple and I still can't predict when new stuff is going to come out). But doesn't your school have better discounts?

I have not seen anything at my schools book store. Or any offers that they are giving. I go to a small community college here in Missouri.

Check Small Dog Electronics for student packages e.g. a computer, software, and AppleCare, with free shipping to boot.

If you are at that point when you need a computer to actually then now is always the best time to buy.
In terms of machines being upgraded soon then now is OK seeing as the MacBookPro's have recently been upgraded.
As for student purchases - Apple do a deal at this time of year for students so another good reason to get out the credit card or cash.

Good luck with your choosing which one you will get.

If you are planning on taking advantage of the Apple promotion for student purchases, you need to hurry!
The current deals expire tomorrow!

The best time for a new computer is when you really need it.

Think of it this way: there's always an upgrade coming. By this logic, you'd never be able to buy a computer.

So go ahead and enjoy your new computer. With an educational discount it's a steal anyway.

Well, it's too late for the edu promotion in 2009.

It was good while it lasted. I got myself a new MBP, and a free iPod Touch for da wife.

Might want to wait, just that bit longer if you're after an iMac.

This is NOT a good time to buy. If it were me, I would set a date, maybe the 10th, 11th, 12th, then stick to it.

If they release something new, you can buy the latest, if not stick to your decision and buy.
