Sounds more like damage control for the UAE.
The spotlight is on them and they don't want to look like a dangerous country to do business with. Could kill international investment.

If the UAE did this a month or so after Katrina, I'd have a different opinion. But this is soooo obvious. It also reveals how close Bush is to these guys (as if that wasn't a surprise)

part bribe, part damage-control, part political shenanigans (for both here in the US and other Western countries).
I'd say it's a gesture that is about five months too late. I hope they don't take it in New Orleans, that is tainted money.

One should never stop striving for clarity of thought and precision of expression.
I would prefer my humanity sullied with the tarnish of science rather than the gloss of religion.

Listened to Rush Limbaugh's take on this. He moaned about how racist people are for opposing it.
It's as funny as listening to liberals act like they care about national security.
People will flip-flop in a heartbeat to protect the interests of their political parties.

Dubya is about to use his first veto - only to get smacked upside the head and have it overturned.
Sometimes I wonder why Dubya calls himself a Republican.
