I'm really hooked on using os x. I have a beige g3 and I am able to run 10.3 using xpost facto, but it crashes often. Too often. I'm wondering if anybody has any suggestions (low budget suggestions are best). Should I downgrade to Jaguar?

How is it crashing? Are you have a kernel panic or is the system just freezing up? A kernel panic looks like this:

If it is a kernel panic it could be related to a bad RAM module or other hardware issue. Panther should actually run better and be more stable than any previous version even though you installed it with XPostFacto.
EDIT: Which processor does your system have? Also, please tell us how much RAM, what version of 10.3 (as in what update version are you at), does it have any additional PCI cards installed and what size hard drive you have and how much room you have left on it.

Thanks for getting back to me. REALLY COOL!
it's a kernel panic.
I have 640 MB of RAM
333MHz powerpc 750 cpu
scsi hard drive
yeah it's old, but it's a free mac and it's my first (just switched from pc)
I'm not using any pci cards
I would love to put in a powerlogix zif g3, but i don't have the dough. I don't even know if it would be worth doing this since the mini is just 250 bucks more than the zif.
If you could help that would be great. I really do appreciate you getting back to me.
Edit: Running 10.3.8
Here's the info on the hard drive from the system profiler:

Use 10.2, it runs much better and is supported.

Thanks Solo and Detrius. I'm gonna look into both of your options right after it's up and running. The wife let me move the computer into another room. I just relocated the computer into a bigger room with a view of the river. YES !

OS 10.28 was the last Mac OS X that supports a non- USB mac.
I have two Beige G3 that run OS 10.28. They don't run fast, but, they do work.

It looks like you have OS X installed on the second partion on your drive. I know that with my older beige g3 I had to install on the first partion, don't remember the exact reasoning for that. Maybe reinstall OS X on the first partion and see if you have better luck. I have Panther on a 266 mHz g3 and it is usable (slow but usable) and I don't have the kernal panic issue that you seem to be having. Good luck.

Thanks, I remember reading that I should have it on the first partition somewhere. (did rtfd, but didn't listen). I'll try this. Thanks again
