OK, folks. Been looking around a little and I am trying to find out who has the best price for Jaguar, with or without rebates.
ClubMac: $119 plus shipping ($10 for UPS. Yikes!)
MacConnection: $119 plus shipping
OWC: $129
Anyone out there selling it for $99 after rebate (that's how I got 10.1)?
Bundles do not count (I don't want to buy anything else).
And upgrades do not count either.

MacZone also has it for $119, plus $5.39 for Airborne ground.

I believe SmallDog has a deal going on where Jaguar is $127 and you get a free pint of Ben & Jerry's ice cream. What could be better than that--chatting with friends in iChat and munchin' on some 'Chunky Monkey' Ice cream?

Thinking about going down to the new Apple store in SOHO and picking up my copy. They should have it and while it will be $129, at least I will get the satisfaction of reading all the cool stuff on the way back on the subway.

<wishful thinking>
Now that Apple has revised its X up to date policy, as a purchaser of 10.1 (regardless of the date) you are entitled to order 10.2 directly from Apple for $19.95. Ben and Jerry's or not, that is the best price you can find.

Calm down. Patience = $ in your pocket. But more importantly in this case, patience = $ in all of our pockets for every OS upgrade in the future. If we all rush like lemmings to buy 10.2 for $129, Apple will have established a precedent for future OS upgrade pricing. But if we pause and tell Apple we actually CAN live without 10.2 (as in, keep on breathing) they will think twice about upgrade pricing the next time. Even if Apple is too dense or arrogant to get the message, the savvy mail order vendors will get it.
Of course the price of 10.2 is high now, even at the mail order vendors. They are testing the market to see how many people will pre-order at this price. If they don't get a lot of pre-orders, one of them will lower the price to what people will pay or bundle it with something (e.g. utility software) they can afford to 'give away' to get the perceived price to what their customers will pay. Once one does that the others will follow. They know that 10.2 is 'hot' and that many people will order something else at the same time. So they are going to make 10.2 pricing as attractive as they can to get your business. It's a bundled pint Ben & Jerry's today but if you are patient, you will almost certainly be able to get 10.2 for $99 before your iDisk disappears on Sept. 30th <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />
FWIW unlike hardware, there is almost never a real shortage of software. So you are very, very unlikely to be 'shut out' by waiting until after Aug 24th to buy 10.2. The full list price isn't going to go up. [BTW The only example of a real software 'shortage' that I can remember, is when M$ ran out of Office vX 'upgrades' because their state-of-the-art online sales system shipped dozens of copies to people who had actually only ordered one. DUH.]
edit: Based on the following post, the more aggresive mail order rebates/bundles/incentives have already begun!

anyone see that Amazon.com mail in rebate that macnn.com posted?
<a href="http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B00006ANW9.01.RB02.LZZZZZZZ.jpg" target="_blank">http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B00006ANW9.01.RB02.LZZZZZZZ.jpg</a>
50 dollars off and amazon has a deal that if you spend over 50 dollars you get free shipping. That might apply here. You have to order Jag between 7/29 and 9/3 to get this rebate so you can't get it now becuase it is only the 26th. Seems like a good deal.
[edit for the date, I could have sworn it was the 27th]

Like i said, the promotion says July 29th and today is only the 26th. So i am guessing they will have it for pre-order on the 29th.

But there is no mention of the 'rebate' yet. Probably because of the dates as you mentioned.
