Hey guys,

After a long period in hibernation (we were originally MacWidgets.net), our site is finally up. We just opened for business! Currently we have two widgets for sale, and a bunch for free.

We're getting quite hammered right now, so please let me know here if you have problems registering, logging in, just accessing pages, downloading widgets, or of course, purchasing. Thanks!

The site runs a bit slow on my new 2GHz iMac, but it looks great. Tried the Flip Clock widget. Cool stuff.

Beautiful site, at first I was like, meh just another flash site... only... it's not flash haha... very impressive... feels even more like a real app than Gmail does.

That is the most beautifully coded site i have ever seen. There isn't a single table! I have tried switching to all CSS layout like that and I just can't seem to get the hang of it. Sorry to go off topic. Very nice site. Awesome GUI.

I love it!

EDIT: holy crap, i just realized what happens when you click on a widget! all I can say is "SCHWEET!"

God i wish i knew javascript

Definitely a beautiful site. Wish I had the time and the wherewithall to learn that kind of script/css. Nice widgets, too! Love the flip clock.

Oh-my-god...W-O-W! Incredible work to say the least...and oh yeah, the widgets are top notch!

Quite a bit different than the original mock-up though...

Is it me or does the Flip Clock display an incorrect time in my time zone? GMT +8 (Singapore).

Thanks

A couple of things. First. Apple front page! Woohoo!

Second, we released our third shareware widget today: FTP Drop 1.0 ($4.95)

Enjoy.

It should work in FireFox / other gecko based browsers as well. I think it renders fine atm in IE6 but doesn't allow clicks.

I discovered the site because VoiceNotes featured on Apple's front page (congrats on that, guys). I can only echo everything complimentary already said about the look and feel. It's a great job of work.

Some genuinely useful widgets too — VoiceNotes itself is a stunner, and I already had and was well impressed with iClip Lite and Flip Clock. Of the widgets coming soon, I like the look of To Do.

Well done to everyone concerned. Widget Machine now enjoys and fully deserves an honoured place on my Safari Bookmarks bar.

Agreement that this is a beautiful site.

However, it elicits some very strange behavior for me. When I click on a Widget, the window opens, the white text appears for a second, and then disappears.

I tried to drag across the text area, to see if it would highlight.

Instead, transparent blocks in the shape of the paragraphs appeared. And by transparent, I mean that I could see my desktop through them; it was literally like there were holes in the window which showed whatever was under the app.

This is under 10.4.1, in OmniWeb 5.1--no problems in Safari. Also, I'd not be surprised if ShapeShifter was contributing some weirdness.

Can anybody replicate this? It's actually kind of cool . . .

hoopz, that's almost certainly due to a bug in ShapeShifter 2.1, one that has been resolved for an upcoming 2.1.1 release.

My iTunes Dashboard widget has occasionally become completely transparent in blocks, so it must be a webkit issue.

Cool.

Interesting in that it manifests itself in OmniWeb, but not in Safari.

(No snark intended; I think OmniWeb is great.)

I'm having a problem with that site also. When it first starts to load I can click on something but then the widget background turns blue and the site freezes. It has been this way since it opened. And, FWIW, I am not using Shapeshifter. I am on a PC as my Mac does not get here for a few weeks yet.

I like the site. I hope someone can tell me a solution.

Thanks,
Lee

Lee, are you on IE6? If so, we haven't really tried making the site compatible for that horrible, horrible browser yet, mostly due to our launch deadlines. We will in the future, but for now, FireFox is highly recommended.

Yeah, Phill, as we talked about in the email, I'm using Win XP for a few weeks yet. As soon as UPS brings my new G5 to the door then I'm stuck with this rig.

If you are using XP, you don't need widgets right away.

That's true but I just like to "window shop" so I know what I want when my new Mac arrives.
