God, this thread is like a perfect storm of weird. First shifuimam is arguing with a bunch of guys over whether she's hot, now abe's all about asking her out except he won't. I feel uncomfortable just seeing it in the forum listing.

What’s the point of the date, then?

In my (admittedly somewhat limited) experience, it’s either been on the first date or before the first date, with no first date to ever follow. That just happens to be the things have panned out, though; if I were dating someone I really liked who wanted to hold off, for whatever reason, I wouldn’t mind waiting, more or less regardless of how long he’d expect me to wait (okay, a decade might be a tad on the overlong side, but you get my drift).
