Can someone tell me how to connect a Imac 400dv and a Imac 233 using a ethernet cable?
I have the feeling I tried everything,but I can't make it work....

Any suggestion is welcome at this moment.....

Both Macs are running on OS-9.2.

We need more info. You haven't told us what you did, or didn't do, nor at what stage the connection process is failing.

But some starters:
- ideally, buy a small hub or switch and two normal ("straight") ethernet cables. This is more reliable than the next solution
-use a crossover cable. Works, but on OS 9 it can be tricky to get the timing right, since neither Mac is being told to actually create a link. (A hub/switch will always link up.)

You need an ethernet CROSSOVER cable, not a standard etherent patch cable. Look carefully at the color coding of the end wiring of the cable. If both ends are the same, you have a patch cable, not a cross-over cable.
