PlanetUnreal is guesstimating that the UT2K4 demo might arrive today!

The Mac and Linux demos are expected very close, if not simultaneously, to the Win one. Or so Epic claimed a week or so ago.

So maybe today, maybe this week, maybe in two weeks....

Well i'm back from playing it
AND not surprising i don't like it. It could barely on my machine, 1.4GHz 8500 Radeon. That's a pretty darn good computer and it still looks terrible. I'm gonna install it on my Dual 1GHz 9700 Radeon when i get it back from Tekserve and hopefully it will work more smoothly. However, it still runs better than halo did. Plus many glitches are rampant throughout it, but those can be easily fixed by the final version.
Oh and they changed a very decent UI into the ugliest one i've ever layed eyes on. It's uglier than Windoze 95.
But it still has some cool stuff and i guess is worth downloading

My downloads keep stopping all by themselves. It's maddening. I've had 3 stop so far. All at different times and sizes. Got another (slow) one going, hoping this one works.

Torrent file mirrored here:

http://onyx.theresistance.net/files/...mg.bz2.torrent

It's the kicks-ass torrent, but I mirrored the torrent file for your enjoyment (I'm seeding as well).

Does anyone have a fast mirror? Of the ones at Macupdate.com, two don't respond and one is very slow. I tried the so called "kick ass" torrent file, but that was downloading at 2kb/sec - on my 2mb cable modem!

Come on... someone out there must have it on a nice fast line...

The reason the ones at MacUpdate.com are slow is the incredible load. For example, AusMac.net has two servers that are being linked to, of which they're both flat out.

The first server, with SCSI disk drives on a 10 Mbit link is flat lining it's connection, with 120 simultaneous connections. The load averages there are currently around 9.00.

The second server, running on ATA drives on a 100 Mbit link is maxing out the capacity of the machine. It's load average is currently 158.31.

In short, all those servers are under a lot of load, you may need to wait for a bit. They'll get better in time, but this is a high load for any server to handle, especially ones like AusMac which don't charge for downloads or display any advertisements.

Yeah, I figured they're slammed. I just wish there were more than 4 mirrors - the PC version demo has about 50 mirrors...

You have to wait a little while for it to get up to speed, and you have to have the right ports mapped. I was getting 40k/sec on it. I seeded the file overnight, and I have 40KB/sec upband which was being used to its fullest extent.
