Spot the difference:

For the life of me, I don't understand how this can happen in 2019.
Are only morons left at Apple ?

Hehe, and that query took 1% of your battery life also. Siri definitely needs more optimization. I feel that the Siri team and Apple Maps team only has five people each. Apple Maps is way behind Google Maps was five years ago including basic stuff like speed.

If I tell Alexa "Turn off all of the lights," she asks, "Which ones?"

How about ALL OF THEM. EVERY LIGHT, ALEXA.

Oh, so that's how Espresso machines work in 2019? (that's how my light works nowadays with rare but similar results)
Is the Espresso machine also from Apple or why are you so sure that Siri is the not working part in this puzzle?

edit: forget the question - I just spotted the difference!

actually, the definitive article isn't needed in that instance, unlike, for example "shut the f up"

I've been trying to tell the Siri, but she's stubborn.

One issue with Siri that is 100% incapable of doing anything offline. Always need a constant internet connection including telling the time (I think). I don't have internet at my house (I tether my phone), so when my iPad (offline at the moment) answers my "Hey Siri, tell me the time" (or something trivial that can be done offline) it basically says something like "You need to be connected to the internet." Outrageously stupid.

Yes, confirmed. I started Siri on my iPad that is offline by holding down the home button and asked the time. Siri couldn’t answer. Super lame.

Here's my latest irritation. I listen to a daily podcast that takes slightly longer than my commute one-way. So every day I'm on the interstate headed home and the podcast ends. I don't want to listen to the last three seconds of an old podcast, I want to shuffle a specific playlist. So I trigger Siri and tell her to shuffle my playlist. EVERY DAY "I'm sorry, I can't seem to find that." So I do it again. Except when I trigger Siri for some reason it resumes playing the end of the podcast, usually an ad that I probably trying to not hear. So I trigger Siri again. On usually the fourth iteration of me saying EXACTLY THE SAME THING she magically finds the playlist and plays it. Or I can just stare at my phone at 75mph and play the playlist manually.

I might as well ask my wife to do stuff.

At least I have a 50% chance of getting it done ;-)

I'm wondering if it has to do with my internet connection. Cell service is poor at work, and I'm on a guest wi-fi that requires signing in. I've noticed that when I go to pick my kid up from school, my phone takes ~30 seconds to figure its shit out and load Instagram or whatever I'm browsing while I wait. I don't know if its still trying to hit the old wifi or find cell towers or what but it's annoying.
