RAM slots in Intel iMac

I am planning to remove the 512 stick from my iMac, and replace it with a 256 stick that will come out of my new MacBook, giving the iMac a total of 1.25 GB and the MacBook a total of 1 GB (I am gunna buy 1 x 512 stick).
Anyway, in system profiler, under memory, there are 2 slots listed - DIMM0/BANK 0 and DIMM1/BANK 1. Does anyone know which is the top slot and which is the bottom slot? It would be easier to know so I did not accidently take out the 1 GB stick, and then put it all back together only to find I took the wrong stick out.
Also, on a side note, does the RAM in the iMac run at 667 Mhz? I thought it did, but SP is only showing it rnning at 533 Mhz.... maybe I got rippied off with the 1 GB stick I bought....

Ah bugger seems like I got screwed over on that front then.... Oh well, it still works, and I doubt it is slowing the machine down that noticably

512MB (single SODIMM) of PC2-5300 (667MHz) DDR2 memory; two SODIMM slots support up to 2GB

It runs at 667 MHz. It is considered PC5300. I think that is where people get confused.

This is part of the mixed blessing of using a standard Intel chipset. There's a good chance that the self-rolled Apple logic in a Power PC designed would simply refuse to boot. Of course, you'd also have known right away that you'd bought the wrong RAM. . .
