That's awesome! Is that the GTS? The Lancers have a very impressive range of standard and optional equipment for the price, and of course you gotta love the baby Evo styling.

It is the GTS, with the Rockford audio system, and the Microsoft Sync powered bluetooth integration for handsfree cell-phoning. Its also got the keyless ignition which I'm really liking - just get in and drive.

Nice car. Try not to wrap it around a tree please.

Keyless entry and ignition is the best.

Nice! Wish I could afford something like that for my first car.
Even if someone gave me one, I couldn't afford the insurance

Not at all a bad deal. Let's start with your first car is NEW. That's quite an accomplishment. Not too long ago the Lancer's styling was blah, but they seem to have fixed that very nicely.

Now, in addition to not wrapping it around anything, please don't act like most of the Mitsu drivers around here. It's like getting into a Mitsubishi automatically makes them jerks. It's worse if it's an Eclipse. So drive nice and drive safe, OK?

This isn't a good learning experience.

Your first car should be a 6 litre something (or more), which smokes heavily and has an ants nest hidden somewhere around the front passenger foot well. It should have dark unidentifiable stains on the back seat. One of the windows (manual of course) should not be able to be wound down. Your first car should not cost more than a months salary. I was going to go into lots of detail about having sex on the back seat of your first car, but I'll let doofy explain.

Get rid of it. You'll thank me later.

The registration & title were included in the price of buying the car. I was already paying for gas for my mom's car (I drove it mostly) and it got far worse milage than this new car. My insurance is about $300/6mo, which isn't too terrible I think. I appreciate the concern though

How old are you and who's your insurance company? I'd like to get that kind of insurance for my son-we're paying more like $600/6mo...

Have you driven your new car enough to see real-world mileage? I think I saw that it was only rated at 28hwy, which seems really low for its class.

28 is about right, it really depends on how I drive the car, the sports transmission makes it _really_ fun to zip around, but the car seems to consume more gas when I use it. If I let the car do the shifting, I can get about 30mpg hwy, which isn't great, but its a step up from the 18 I was getting in my mom's car.

Yeah, but you live in Europe, where people are able to live full, independent lives without having their feet welded to the accelerator pedal and fat asses merging into car seat cushions.

What? I'm 18 and I am covered for $80/6months. Of course it's under my parents insurance, but that's way cheaper than that.

By yourself, or on your parents' insurance? This makes a big difference.

My son turns 22 this week, and he's covered under OUR GEICO policy...We have three cars, all of 'em new. One is "sporty" and we expected to pay more for that, but he's not even allowed to drive that one (he's not yet trained on a standard transmission) and thus not listed as a driver in the insurance documents. When we got the new cars, the insurance went up considerably. I have checked and the WHOLE policy is a bit over $600/6mo, so I was freaking over not much.

A huge deductible is never a good thing; you may want to look at reducing your deductible and putting up with higher premiums when you can afford them. That Lancer won't be cheap to fix when someone goobers it up for you. But just so long as you know what's up with your insurance and you can afford the premiums...it's good.

What's the interior of the car like? Those outside views are cool, but what's it like inside?

Well, that just means your parents have your car insured. There is nothing "you" about it.

I pay for gap insurance as well, which covers the deductible if the car is totaled. My deductible is $500, which seemed reasonable, I figure any minor thing is going to cost less than $500 to fix, so I wouldn't report it. Any major thing will probably cost in the thousands, so the $500 to get that fixed seems worth it.

I'll shoot some (iPhone) pics of the interior in a bit and post them

With discounts for being accident and violation free for 5 years, at least 23 years old, and a customer of Progressive for over three years, I'm paying $245/6 months ($40/month) for full coverage on my car.

I completely disagree.

For a safe driver who has never had a claim I have saved over $2,000 in the last 8-10 years alone simply by having a high deductible. Lower deductibles are for people with the inability to save for a rainy day.

Or who live where people seem to try to drive as badly as humanly possible. Like San Antonio. My driving skill has been challenged many times this year in situations where it was only that skill that prevented a major accident caused by idiots who shouldn't be allowed in the trunk of a car driving like maniacs. And as a student for the last four years, my income has severely impacted my ability (not discipline, which I think is what you really meant) to save for a rainy day, so a $2k deductible was simply not an option.
