How was your summer?

Mine was fantastic: I went to Paris and worked there for more than a month... met cool people, and 4 friends unexpectedly visited me -- needless to say we had a major blast.

Went to Amsterdam two times for weekends with friends and GF, went to Barcelona 5 days+... was at a youth hostel and it was really, really, really kick ass time.

my Flickr is http://www.flickr.com/photos/88897761@N00/ for those who are interested.

I got my new $800 Nikon lens stolen. And oh, somebody accidentally spilled beer over my brand new MacBook Pro. It actually had beer coming out of the battery compartment. And yes, I felt really stupid having to tell the repair guy at the Apple store what happend. First I tried getting away saying "liquid" was spilt. I didn't...

– But we were sitting in this little cabin by the coast when...
– Right!
– ...running iTunes when suddenly...
– Right!
– ...and we were reading books and stuff and...

He gave me that look as if I were a raging alcoholic.

Bought a new old house, spent all the hours (and all the money) we had first gutting and then renovating it. It's more of a home and less of a project now. Still about 10% to go.

Well, I don't consider mine over yet!

I took a great trip with my mom, a trip she's been talking about us taking together since I was a little kid. Yes, it's a little different to have a 31 year old hanging out with his 63 year old mom and her dog on the road, but it was a blast.

I saw 4 different National Parks (Bryce Canyon, Grand Canyon, Sequoia, Yosemite) on the trip. Took lots of photos (Flickr: Photos from webdav) with my new Nikon D50.

Still plan another trip down to California to visit my grandparents with my mom. That will be in about three weeks.

I've also been fortunate enough to experience some things just in day to day life that I've never experienced before. All-in-all, a great, very memorable summer.

No you didn't. Mac users buy either new houses or newly renovated houses, where things just work. Of course, some of them get upset since the water tank doesn't come in the same theme as the oil boiler, and that this eventually will cause confusion. Still, they gladly pay a little extra not having to troubleshoot plumbing issues, water shortages or power failures, allowing them to be productive from day one.

Went to school, we dont get summer breaks.
Made my decision to transfer to California.
Smoke/drank excessive amounts.
Lost lots of money.
Exercised a lot.

Nothing too grand, but a decent summer anyway. Fall is actually when Im going to have some time off, so Im really looking forward to that.

In June I spent a few days in Colonial Williamsburg with a group of teachers.

In July my daughter and I drove to Colorado to visit my sister. We went to Rocky Mountain National Park, Royal Gorge, and Mesa Verde National Park.

We drove though Arizona and Utah en route to Las Vegas where we overnighted before continuing on to California.

My wife flew into Oakland and we stayed in Berkeley where we all saw the Foo Fighters acoustic show two nights. After too few days in the Bay Area wife flew back home and we drove on to spend two days at Disneyland.

The drive home to Texas provided us with dramatic thunderstorms and lots of good time together.

5,211 miles, I cringe a little at our carbon footprint but my daughter saw lots of America and she'll never be seven again. I hope this will be an experience she remembers and treasures as much as I always will.

I had a busy summer. In chronological order:
  1. Got married in Jamaica.
  2. Got a kitten (a playmate for our current cat)
  3. Taught a chemistry lecture every morning to a class of nearly 150 students.
  4. Had a reception at the science museum.
  5. Bought a brand new silver Mazda6.
  6. Managed to get to the driving range only once.

The usual. Spanked the plank, annoyed hippies, got hit on by chicks, that kind of thing.
Been inclined to wander... off the beaten track.

I moved to DC to look for work. Found a job in 2 weeks, then spend another 3 weeks or so looking for a permanent apartment (I had moved into a sublet). My life has finally stabilized just as the summer is ending.

After I split up with Paris Hilton in early September, I started meeting Katie Holmes for secret sexual interludes (yet again). It sucks not being able to be a father to our love child, but it's only a temporary problem.

So, really, this Summer hasn't really had any memorable moments...not like *last* Summer. omg, the stories I could tell.

Oh yeah, when I wasn't dating celebrities - I had to work>

Seriously, though, my Summer was kinda dull. All I do is work pretty much every day, all day. The only highlights that come to mind was when I found a $800 Nikon lens that was almost brand new - and then there's the time I spilled my beer all over some dolt's MacBook Pro. Other than that, I just worked all the damn time.

Just kicking back in Malibu and hanging out with celebs.
Partying with Pam and Kid Rock after their wedding.
Hang out at the beach with Britney Spears and her kid. Took some photos with her and her kid.
Test drove a few Ferrari's and Lambo's.
Went racing with Mel Gibson on the PCH the night he was arrested. I think he blames me, although I wouldn't consider myself a Jew.
Bush Tax Cuts == Job Killer
June 2001: 132,047,000 employed
June 2003: 129,839,000 employed
2.21 million jobs were LOST after 2 years of Bush Tax Cuts.

My summer was class, followed by studying and more class. I survived and am a better person for it, but MAN it was rough! I'm one week from starting the next semester, so my "summer" has been about two weeks of "in between classes."
