You should check your battery and make sure you are near the spec of their capacity. My old battery was 3.571Ah I have not fully killed this battery yet but I will test to see how much longer it lasts. I am glad to finally have a good battery. Maybe I'll break 3hrs

I remember you posting this somewhere else, but mind telling us how to spec our batteries again? And where can we compare our numbers with "good" ones?

go to terminal (located in your appications>utilities folder)

and run the following command

" ioreg -l | grep -i IOBatteryInfo"

the response will look like this

"IOBatteryInfo" = ({"Capacity"=4144,"Amperage"=1200,"Current"=160,"V oltage"=11431,"Flags"=1090519175})

the flags will equal a regular # like 4, if it is not plugged into the wall.

A "good" number in my opinion is from 4000 to 4500 i beleive. I have seen someone get 4515. I got 4400 when i first put the battery in.

I just reset my power management info and am fully charging it for the first time. My current readout is 4.144. I am happy with this.

Please post your capacity #'s.

i dont know my stock battery read 3.571 and i didnt think anything was wrong with it until i started realizing that everyone else on this board was getting better battery life than me.

Uh, sorry to rain on your parade, but the 17" batteries are supposed to go up to 5800. These values are for the 15" batteries which can go up to 4600.

Old battery was 3500ish, called Apple, got a replacement, and this one says:

Guess I'll just bite the bullet and buy a second battery. Kinda sad the new Powerbook 15 inch models can't easially play an entire Bond DVD without going to sleep.

Granted its the original battery in my Ti/500... my Al 1.25 gets 3400 in Capacity. A little disappointing.

Yep, that's a whopping 998. This is a 1.5 year old Ti800DVI, but I really wish it wasn't suffering so bad. I get about an hour of use doing light work if I'm lucky.

Just got a new battery from Apple (Less than 24 hours after calling support

) and my capacity went from 3600 to 4400. Way to go MacNN for the Info.

My battery capacity is 5 times better than any other in this thread!

On the other hand, this might explain why my PB always shuts itself down when it reaches 89% battery capacity. Anyone know if it's possible to reset this somehow? (I've already tried to reset PMU and NVRAM)

This is the same machine I have (1.2 yr old) with only 2311. I guess the batteries on this model just go faster.

I have a slightly different question, but didn't want to open a new thread for it:
I called Apple about an issue with my battery on my new 1.25 Al. They told me I had to see a certified Apple dealer and he would check it, before a possible exchange. Since I will be in NY at the end of the Month: is the Soho store a place I could go to? If this question sounds stupid, please excuse myself- since I am from Europe, I don't knoe the status that the Apple store actually have and if it is the place to go- any experiences from user side about their friendliness??

As far as I know, the 1 year warranty is an international warranty. Thus, as long as you take your proof of purchase with you, then I don't think there will be an issue with this.
