You can't upgrade the educational versions, you have to pay full price for the new version. Of course, if you're still a student, you can still get the new version for the EDU price. To be honest, unless there's a specific feature that you need, the upgrade to version 8 is probably not necessary. I had MX, and used MX 2004 extensively, and now have Studio 8, and nothing that's been added has been particularly important to me. I guess the better CSS support in Dreamweaver is nice, but that's about it.
