Dreamweaver 8 doesn't take advantage of OS X in any particular way it seems to me. So when I was thinking about upgrading to Drewamweaver 8 - I was thinking that maybe running either via Bootcamp, or better-yet, via Parallels I would get better performance than under Rosetta.

I have a Macbook 2.0 with 2 gb of Ram. Does anyone have any thoughts which would provide the best speed, and any pitfalls in the user experience I should be aware of if I go with the Windows version?

If you use Boot Camp, you will have all the pitfalls of using Windows as your OS. Dreamweaver should run fine, of course.

If you use Parallels under OS X, you will have the pitfall of having Parallels eating a lot of RAM, in addition to OS X one. Dreamweaver should run also fine there though.

But I bet Dreamweaver under Rosetta is also fast, probably slower than running it under native Windows (Boot Camp) but not so sure about running it under virtualization Windows (Parallels). Another pitfall of running apps under Rosetta is that they eat a lot more RAM, although I doubt more than what Parallels with Windows is going to.

I would go Rosetta.

Once Dreamweaver actually finished loading you really can't tell much of a difference with it running under rosetta.

Darn it people, answers! I want answers; not well reasoned pros and cons!

I just had read in some posts that Dreamweaver ran slower on a MB than on 1ghz iBook. I'm not into installing Windows on my MB, but I will probably have to do so anyway for work in a few months - and since Dreamweaver will also be for work, I might as well pick the best performing version of Dreamweaver (OS X via Rosetta, Parallels or Boot Camp). Plus I'm gonna have to test the site in IE6 anyway...

Anyone have personal experience running Dreamweaver in any of these environments? Performance issues? I

OK, if its speed your after, get the windows version and run it under bootcamp/xp

If its simplicity you want, ie not having to switch OS's, then get the OS X version

FWIW, the Windows and Mac versions are both included on the CD, so you don't have to choose when you buy it.

I want to bump this.

Is anyone running DW in Rosetta and how does it compare to what you previously had (and what that was)?

How would DF on a Al15 1.33 compare to an iMac CS 2.0Ghz?

Thanks.

Toby.

I've got a 1.33 12" PB an iMac CD 2.0GHz, and I'd say Dreamweaver is roughly equivalent. Quite a bit slower than on my dual 1.8 GHz G5, but still acceptable on my iMac. That said, I'm eagerly awaiting the Universal version of Dreamweaver.
