I was playing around with my new macbook, and noticed somthing that I did not expect.
It is presently a basic 60gb model (I will add to it later).
So I went to see how much memory it had under the finder, and was surprised to find that it only
has 55.57gb. That is quite a way from 60gb "as quoted".
It must be only just within the limits...I guess.
How much has everybody else got, and I would like to hear what they think.

Whoa, hold on a minute. Memory is RAM. Greg (the OP) is talking about Hard Drive Space. Don't get these things confused.

This is also one of those classic stories about how your hard ddrive is actually less than what is quoted it will be.

Hard drive capacity is rated in bytes. A 60Gb hard drive has 60,000,000,000 bytes.

60,000,000,000 / 1024 = 58,593,750 Kb

58,593,750 / 1024 = 57,220 MB

57,220 / 1024 = ~55.8 GB

It's just a marketing ploy to make you think the hard drive has more space than it actually does.

I recently upgraded to a 120 Gig . You can just imagine how fast you loose space with all the songs you can download ( legally).
