Well, I can see this in the next update:

Low:
800mhz G3
100mhz Bus
128mb
DVD
32MB Radion 7500
12.1"
(Basically todays top 12"er, except for the optical drive)

Mid:
933mhz G3
133mhz
256 (SDR SDRAM)
DVD/CDRW
32 or 64mb Radion 9000
12.1

High:
933mhz G3
133mhz
256 (SDR SDRAM)
DVD/CDRW
32 or 64mb Radion 9000
14.1 1172x870 (or perhaps 15.4, that could be what the new LCD diplay thats been rumored all over the PB forums is for!!!)

Anyway, I can't imagine a 1GHZ iBook, because even though thats been done in the past, I think Apple relised it was a marketing mistake. For the general consumor, a 1ghz G3 vs. 1ghz G4 is chicken scratch. It's like telling them to buy a 2GHZ P4, vs. a 2.4GHZ Celeron...

Was that a mistake? WWDC is in May. So what in March would act as a podium to do releases for an update?

Why does everyone want higher resolutions in the iBooks? When the 12" PB came out "what only 1024x!" Just seems odd, I doubt there will be a 15.4" iBook, talk about stepping on the PowerBooks toes ...

I've mentioned this before, but being that iBook is positioned for education, i'd love to see an iBook with TabletPC-like functionality (ie: on-screen writing capabilities). If Apple could position a $1500 laptop head-to-head with the current TabletPC PC laptops starting at $2500+ they would have a *very* strong message for education. Inkwell technology's already in the OS, Apple's the best industrial designer on the market, surely they can show the PC world how it's really done.

The higher res is simply because there is no real point in have a 14" screen with the same res as the 12". If they could make a 1280x1024 14" I would consider popping off the extra $200 for it. As for the 15.4 inch idea, there is a large enough gap in the product lines (PCMCIA, G4, backlit keyboard, L3 cache, DDR 167mhz Bus) that a 15" iBook is now a possiblity. Everyone said the 14" would step on the Ti's toes, but it really didn't...
