I was wondering if any of you guys know any software that run native on Intel machine for photo editing. I was considering Adobe Photoshop CS2 but it is way too slow, I want something native...Any ideas?

Thanks in advance...

Adobe Lightroom, while in beta, may help with basic photo editing.

If you could describe your needs more fully, we could be more helpful. GraphicConverter runs natively, but it's hardly a replacement for Photoshop.

my bad sorry. My needs are basic photo editing, nothing major, but that can still deliver.

you could always try GIMP, or Seashore, or GIMPShop or something.

GraphicConverter may do what you need. Give it a try (Shareware with free trial period).

Anything wrong with iPhoto?

At the higher end there is Aperture.

Or Adobe Lightroom (in beta until early 2007).

Doesn't Graphic Converter come as part of the bundled software on the Intels?

It's not on my Macbook, though it may be on the pro machines.

Graphic Converter is great for simple crop/correct/resize/sharpen/export workflows. I use Photoshop a lot. But on the Macbook, Photoshop in Rosetta is just a bit slow for basic stuff. GC fills that gap very nicely.

I upgraded from a 1Ghz PowerBook to a 2Ghz MacBook, even in Rossetta Photoshop is faster.

Seashore is great for basic stuff, much like the GIMP. What type of photo editing do you plan on doing? Simple color correction/cropping or more detailed stuff?

Any ramblings are entirely my own, and do not represent those of my employers, coworkers, friends, or species
