Hi,

i just renamed some of my Files to make use of the long Filenames under MacOS X. It works great in the Finder and other Apps but in some Programs they show up truncated with some numbers appended.
How does this thing work?
Is it just that the App is not capable of long names or does the OS keeps track of two different names?

Thanks for lighting me up.

That's a very good question! I've been wondering the same thing myself... the one thing that is most irritating is that in OS9.1, almost all the files show up as truncated. I was under the impression that the number of characters allowable for file names has been increased in OSX, but I cannot seem to see any modification to that effect... Is there a setting or preference that needs to be checked or made active, or am I (are we) missing something?

Thanks in advance for helpful information
