So what do you guys think of this
Black Mac

While the Seller purports it to be an Apple prototype, I wondered if someone just painted it. That said I think it looks cool and I wanted to bid on it, but once it jumped to 200, I thought it was way too much money for a Mac SE.

Thats a damn good paint job. Ive been thinking of doing the same to my SE, but i dont want to lose the Macintosh SE lettering at the bottom. Might do it to the classic though. I wonder how a classic would look as a hampster cage?

From the comments at the bottom:

"Q: Hi! I'm really intrigued by your black Mac SE. It was obviously upgraded by someone fairly recently as I know a number of them originally shipped with 20MB hard drives, but what about the black finish? Was this done at time of manufacture, or recently? Looking forward to hearing back from you about it soon--thank you!

A: Hi. Thanks for the questions. The Mac SE was rebuilt by me recently (I did a bit of imaginative copywriting in the ad for fun and to get people intrigued . The black finish was done very carefully with a special plastic primer and a high-quality black satin paint. I installed a 1 Gig hard drive for added performance and to give more space for fun and useful software. Feel free to ask any more questions you like. -Thanks, eplatt"

Bandit240,
The 2 Lisas sound neat - what do you do with them?
How many of those were there to begin with?

As of right now the lisa's are setting under the desk with alot of other stuff. Im going to remove parts from both to make one work. Both have issues, but the only issue they share is nonworking floppy drives. Im trying to rebuild one to make it work. Once working, ive got no clue what ill do with them.

I have one of the black Mac TV's and I just got it out of the closet to set up as a TV in my daughter's room. I am having a problem in that I think the hard drive has finally gone bad because on starting up from the original CD it can't find the HD to reformat.

Is it possible to replace this HD?

The seller admits he painted it black.

"A: Hi, thanks for the question. The case was very carefully painted (by me) in a multi-step process. See one of the previous questions for more details."

Haha, Cubeoid.

There were a number of black Macs manufactured by Apple; the Mac TV and TAM come to mind. This is not one of them - as has been stated, it was painted.

There was also a Tempest-shielded Mac known as the Black Mac even though it was not actually black.

Black Performa, I remember these, it could have been my first mac, but I went for a 6400 instead .

It'll be much easier if you just comply.

Hmm... I always found the black powerbok G3s to be very cool looking. As much as I love my 12in Powerbook, the sleek black look of the G3 powerbook still haunts my dreams.
