Wish some of you were here!
Anyway, I told people BYOB...so if you were bringing your cocktail of choice what would it be?

Have a good one!

Try a Commando:
One bottle Newcastle Brown.
One double of Pernod.
Drink the Brown until it's no longer in the neck of the bottle. Tip the Pernod in. Shake. Drink. Repeat.
Not suitable for veggies (which is why I haven't had one in ages).

If you're having a party, shouldn't you be entertaining your guests? Tsk, tsk, bad host!
Anyway, I'm a fan of the spirits; vodka and tequila are my favorites with rum a not so distant third. When it comes to mixed drinks, my favorite is vodka + cranberry + lemonade.
And, these are all very tasty as well:

Yes, cranberry with Grey Goose...Delicioso!
I'm not entertaining my guests all of the time...NO. Because? I do not care what they think! Seriously. They can mingle. I need a break from time to time.
Anyway, I have now moved on to Mike's Light over crushed ice with lemon wedges. It's lighter and refreshing.
Cheers!

Young's Double Chocolate Stout, thank you very much. Yummy dark beer that is brewed with barley malt that's been toasted to a chocolate brown--and then they put REAL chocolate in too!

OK. I googled and found out what Pernod is--an anise flavored liquer--but what
makes this particular mixture a no-go for veggies?

I remember drinking some mescal/mezcal.
I drove around the block naked with my girlfriends after that! We were in my Saab with the top down. We were whooping it up. I'm surprised we didn't get busted.
This wasn't even that long ago...

"At my favorite bar, I tipped the bartenders two dollars at a time when the standard drink tip was one dollar. I have since come to understand that this is a form of larceny. In getting a larger tip from me, the bartenders pour me a bigger drink. More Dewar’s; fewer rocks. Even so, my rate was about three per hour, a Dewar’s on the rocks every twenty minutes. Sometimes I’d try to cut down to a Dewar’s on the rocks every half hour, but at the end of the twenty minutes my Dewar’s on the rocks would be gone and I didn’t have anything to drink and I would have to order another Dewar’s on the rocks before the allotted time."

When did I say anything about smoking it?
And I have no problems with drugs. Just drug abuse. (I've stated that many times in conversations with you)
I smoked pot about ... oh 4 months ago. Not enough to get high mind you...
I have some stomach problems from time to time.
But my post was meant in jest.

Oooo try this... some coca-cola and one of your favorite beers. Pour half an half of both into a glass. If you like it sweeter then more cola than beer. It's a nice little drink that hits the spot when you're not in the mood for something strong. It's a Colombian drink that we make in the summer time to cut the thirst. But we use a Champaign soda instead called Colombiana. You can most definitely find it in Florida. Publix offers the brand now.

I'm partial to "the Glens" and usually drink them straight up-and very, very slowly. Glenlivet and Glenfiddich are very similar in aroma and finish, with very subtle differences in overall flavor. I haven't been able to do a real taste comparison with Glenmorangie yet, but I'm looking forward to it.
Single malt scotch has a real appeal in that it is almost always smoother and better flavored than blended whiskeys. Good blended whiskeys like Chivas and Canadian Club are milder but not really as smooth, and there are a number of "inexpensive" blended brands on the market that are really better suited for filling your Zippo than for drinking.

Sorry, I don't mean to be an ass, but not putting ice in a single malt, or even a good blended, doesn't have to do anything with pretentiousness and everything to do with how Scotch whisky is produced and should be enjoyed. Whoever supplied the above quote has never been to Scotland, and has certainly never been to a tasting in a distillery, any distillery. You ask for ice there, you're quietly told to leave please. And that's from the people who make the stuff.
A drop of water will open up the flavours and create a far 'wider' and more complex nose for most scotches. Ice will close the flavour, resulting in a reduced taste experience.
If you're drinking blended whisky with mixers then the story changes, I agree.

Talk about hoity-toity, they used the word "gauche" properly in a sentence.
Seriously, a friend of mine turned me on to a nice, mild combo... Corona with Squirt or Fresca. Nice!

Good morning!
No, don't smoke weed. I never have. And I've never smoked a cigarette, either, for that matter.
The party was good. Over by about 1:00 AM. Nothing particularly interesting happened - it was just a low-key little get-together to decorate the house for Halloween and autumn. Our house looks great: Mini jack-o-lanterns (that light up at night) all along the walkways...a big spider web (5 feet across) that lights up at night with a huge spider in the middle up in the eaves of the house...big huge pumpkins on the lawn...some life-sized smiling skeletons hanging in the walkway of house...it looks great.
But, this morning I have 4-point hangover on a scale of 1 to 10. Little bit of a headache and a little aching all over. Runny nose. Nothing major but enough to make me feel like I'm getting to be a lightweight with the drinking and the parties.
I need some really good freshly ground and brewed coffee with cream to get my day going.
And maybe a Tylenol.

I started looking into the single malts this year and settled on the Islay scotches, very peaty and smokey. Lagavulin and Bowmore 17 are in my cupboard now. I just cut them 50/50 with water. Otherwise, Guiness!

I am an Islay man too. Love the peatyness. You might enjoy Ardberg, especially the 17 year old stuff. 50/50 with water is a bit much for my personal taste. I tend to go more like 80/20.

Laphroaig has been my favorite Islay for the past few years, really powerful stuff. I usually drink Dalmore or Highland Park though, Laphroaig is a bit too rude for some nights.
And then, of course, 95 octane gasoline is underappreciated as a drink. Bad publicity I guess.

Stoli Vanil, peach schnapps and a good orange juice (in this case, sans pulp). Makes for a deliciously deceptive creamsicle.

That must have been quit a night Cody. What time of night was it? Apparently no one saw you. Just two females partying.

I really hope that you are feeling better now Cody. Sounds like awesome party with an awesome hostess. May be I can join in someday. Would like to see pictures of your Halloween. Will be available anytime if you need me Cody.
