I like the sites to a point but I'm not sure what is with all these QuickTime movies everywhere.

I think those tabs are bit dated. What four years now?

Is this their Intel sticker?

Personally, I like those tabs better then the current OS X (Panther-style) ones. They look like tabs.

I like the Apple site updates. My chief criticism is that the site's too wide - I like to keep my Safari windows about 920 pixels wide, and the new Apple site needs closer to 1024 to be comfortable. Ironically, it will tend to work better for PC users who are more likely to have their Web browser maximized.

yeah, safari defaults to 800px wide, which used to be just fine for apple.com, but now it's too small. not a huge fan of that, although it looks nice.

I noticed they first did this for the Aperture section. Much wider than the rest of the site, this was ok because the people looking at that section are pro users with high rez monitors anyway.

Don't k now if it is such a good idea for the home page and now the tabs look really dated.

The tabs at the top need to go. Two design styles clashing with the dark side overtaking the light... bleh

For some reason, seeing typos on an otherwise-professional website makes me smile a bit. Reminds me that even major corporations like Apple are run by humans. And humans make mistakes... hndreds of mistakes.

Yeah, agreed about the tabs. They are just outdated and need to be removed ASAP. It's just so... 10.1.

the MacBook page is white on black... which I cannot read at all because the font is way too small/thin. I'm using Firefox, maybe something isn't working right, but the page is horrible.

I'm not on dial-up, but those QT movies take long enough to load on broadband!

There are other considerations - many PCs, especially in corporate environments, don't have QT. Also, Quicktime now runs terribly on older Macs where it used to be fine.

The new pages sure look a lot better than many of the old ones. Still, I’d prefer them to be white-on-black, rather than the other way around.

And yes, the tabs desperately need to go. They were ugly four years ago, and they’re ugly now. One can only hope that Apple will seize the opportunity of the Intel switch to do a complete redesign—settling, preferably, on one design, rather than three or four different designs clashing with each other.

As for the typo: it happens. Even on major corporation websites. Even in published books that have been proofread dozens of times. A typo or two will nearly always slip through. As long as it’s limited to one or two typos, it doesn’t bother me; it’s only when typos start showing up left, right, and centre that I begin to reconsider the professionalism of the corporation.

Edit: Wtf? I passed 3,000 posts? Holy shit, I thought I was somewhere around 2,000.

An Irish lake.

Was that supposed to be ‘plug’, though? I can understand how ‘hundreds’ becomes ‘hndreds’, but ‘plug’ -> ‘lough’?

It's fixed now - it says "cord". How "cord" got mistyped as "lough", I'll probably never know.

The new http://www.espn.com front-page needs a "WIDE LOAD" sign as well...

Ugh... I hope there isn't a rush to "HD Websites"... I can already hear our marketing people saying "I hear the new thing is high definition... is our websites 'H' 'D' ?"
