1. Burned my ribs and stomach with boiling water when I was 5 trying to help myself in the kitchen when mom was cooking. Bad, bad blisters.

2. Broken collar bone in high school. That sucked because you cant put a cast on a broken collar bone, I had to wear a harness that kept my shoulders pulled back all the time.

I should be maimed by now, but I've never really had many sever accidents or broken any bones.

Knocked myself out a few times headbutting trees when downhill/dual biking,
Stabbed my side (deep - I think it eventually led to my appendix going pete tong a couple weeks after) whilst kayaking over some falls.
Took the skin off the length of my arm (no graft needed, so not too bad) messing around at a party.
Blew up a bonfre by mistake, but luckily only covered me and 20 of my friends in ash (I had to fork over a fair amount of cash/favours for buring LOTS of clothing though)
Almost drowned kayaking at sea with faulty hip pads in place - breathed water - passed out - wasn't allowed to sleep lying down for 36 hours... pfff.
Had ingrowing (large toe) nails as a child, had ops, accidents, more ops, painful stuff, heh.

Broke my right wrist when hit by a car while on a bike. Flew over the top of the car and landed on the ground behind it. I used my arm to brace the impact.
Was hit in the head with a baseball bat that the batter failed to hold onto while swinging. Not sure if he hit the ball or not. Had stitches in the forehead. Managed to not have a concussion.
Have had stitches in various places for various reasons. Most painful was slicing my finger open on the cutting blade on an industrial box of saran wrap. Dull, serrated blade. Much better to be cut by something sharp - I've had stitches from glass cuts, and I didn't even notice the cuts until I saw the blood pouring out.
Have had knee surgery to remove the right medial meniscus due to a soccer injury. Putting off surgery on both knees.
Broken several toes.
Had nerve damage in my right arm from blood donation gone bad. Phlebotomist pushed the needle through the vein in hit the nerve. Hurt like the dickens. Had nerve blocks for several months. They put a long needle in the front of your neck and poke around until they hit the right nerve center in your spine, then inject it with stuff to stun the nerves. When the find the right nerve, I would get a pinch in my shoulder blade and let them know they found it. Within a few minutes, the whole right side of my face would sag for hours because I had lost muscle control of it.

Chipped my little toe on my right foot in a car accident (barely...I didn't need a cast or anything) when I was in second grade.

Sliced my left index finger open with a very sharp x-acto knife when I was in seventh grade...I had to get six or seven stitches and now I have a huge scar that turns all puffy and white and purple when it's cold out. Knives make for seriously bloody cuts.
Sell or send me your vintage Mac things if you don't want them.

* When I was 8 I picked up a huge rock and tried to throw it at my brother. When the rock was above my head gravity took over and it fell backwards and broke my index finger on my left hand. I have full motion and no pain but the join is bigger than the rest of my finger joints and the finger is about 1cm (half an inch) shorter than the right index finger.

* I was grinding a box in a skatepark and my wheel touched the wooden box, causing my feet (inline skates) to stop and me to go flying in the direction I was going. I flew right into a metal edged box. I have a big straight line scar from my right nipple that wraps around my side to my back. I broke/bruised my ribs.

* I got pulled by a car, hit a launch ramp, and flew over another car while on skates. Everything up until the landing went smoothly. I damaged both wrists. The right wrist was a lot worse than the left so it got a cast. The left wrist wasn't as damaged but it took about a year before I could put any weight on it.

* If you run your fingers down my left shin you can feel a divot in the bone. Again, skating.

I think that's about it.

x-acto knives. *shiver*

Back in the day when we pasted up artwork, I once had my thumb slightly over the straight edge when running the x-acto down it. Not serious, but bloody.

Broke my left ankle messing around two days before the conference cross country meet my senior year of high school...my team didn't make it to state. It still clicks sometimes.

Got in a bike accident with another bicyclist, went flying over the handlebars, but luckily my forehead caught my fall. Oh wait. Ended up unconscious for 20 minutes and got 12 stitches in my forehead.

This last summer we were playing a game and I ended up accidentally punching someone right in the hip bone. I had to wear a splint on my left wrist for a week or two but the doctor said it was just a contusion. It still hurts a lot when I bend it at weird angles, like playing guitar.

Stepped on an electric charcoal lighter when I was 3 or 4. Ended up with 3rd degree burns.

Broke my femur when I was 5, spent a month in the hospital

Split open my chin in kindergarten, needed 5 stitches.

Cut open my leg in 2nd grade, needed 16 stitches.

Fell off my bike and broke my finger.

Broke my arm at 15 and needed metal pins inserted.

My sig is 1 pixel too big.

Stab wound to the neck by a would-be mugger (I caught the guy and he is rotting in prison)
broken nose & fractured skull (attempted robbery, caught the guy, also is rotting in prison)
deafness in one ear as a result of a gunshot (unrelated to the above)
nearly severed index finger by freakish accident involving a Bowie knife
fractured lower vertebrae & slipped disks on a mountaineering trip
fractured foot
broken teeth (incisors)

Everything has healed nicely, except for the scars that chicks love for some retarded reason.

I'm not really a tough guy, just a little too adventurous at times, or at the wrong place at the wrong time.

Oh - I forgot - a few car crashes, but I'll spare the details because I wasn't driving.

drowning is my biggest fear, probably the worst way to go next to being burned to death - or in a room with people with bad breath.

Broke my nose when I was 2.
Dislocated my shoulder playing basketball.
Broke my wrist playing basketball (I eat with my left hand to this day).
Severely sprained my right ankle twice while playing basketball (just after I started dunking; I haven't been able to dunk since the first sprain).
Developed a blot clot in my right quad from a collision while playing basketball.
Broke my pinky toe (probably the most painful thing I've ever done) on a door
Been hit in the face with a crutch - lost most of one of my front teeth (people don't know it's bonding)
Scarred up my arm skateboarding - nothing serious
Concussion when I was about 13. I don't remember how it happened, and other people didn't see it, so it's a mystery.
Quite a few random injuries from dirtbike riding from 12-17 years old.

Appendicitis probably doesn't count...

I'm a firm believer that brain processes can be re-trained to function by using other parts of the brain.
It's not easy, I'm sure you know, but not impossible.

brassplayersrock² reminded me of this.
Young enough that I don't have any memory of this, I crawled my way through a hole in the pool fence and right into the pool. My dad has a big scar on the inside of his thigh that he got from jumping over the pool fence (and it cutting into his thigh) to dive into the pool to get me.

I owe him one.

Numerous gashes and cuts, to many to name. I also split my fingernail in half with a hammer...the upper half sliced the top of my finger off (worst throbbing I've ever felt)

Broke my right radius falling out of a tree when I was 8 (compression fracture)

Split my head open a few years ago on a jobsite and got 5 staples in my dome.

Last year I drunkenly fell over when someone was giving me ten fingers. I shattered my right radial head at the elbow, severely bruised my other elbow (internally, at first they thought it was broken) and ripped my chin open on the pavement which required 6 stitches. I then had surgery to repair my annihilated radial head (I gots me a cool 4" scar now) which resulted in 4 titanium screws permanently residing in my elbow. The pain was awful, luckily I was downing 2 perks every 4 hours for weeks.

I broke both bones in my left wrist and dislocated them on good friday while visiting NY when I was 12 or so.
broke right hand playing softball in high school
broke a few ribs when my ice hockey coach fell on me
cut up my right leg badly playing soccer so now I kick with my left leg
concussion from landing on a concrete floor
burned my left arm on an oven used to melt plastics
stitches here and there

nothing too serious, but enough to have some stories over.
AT&T iPhone 5S and 6; 13" MBP; MDD G4.

No broken bones or serious injuries of any kind, so far.

I did twist my ankle once, at the halfway point of a 12 mile hike. That day was, unpleasant.

we had a thread about this a year ago. so i'll be lazy and just copy/paste:

one of the most curious injuries i've seen was during a game of basketball. but that wasn't mine, so i'll save that story for another day.

Too many minor sprains to list
Severely sprained ankle (basketball. eventually turned my foot black. fun stuff)
10 stitches total
-3 in right foot in the webbing between toes (hot glass)
-3 in right knee (sharp edged bathroom)
-1 in left hand (knife wound)
-3 medically related
Separated shoulder (extreme dinner!)

Dislocated shoulder (hockey)
Dislocated shoulder (racquetball. twice)
Mild concussion (hockey)
Black eye (baseball)
Black eye (grade school playground)
Black eye (fight)
Bruised tailbone (hockey)
Ocular migraines (not really an injury, but since they hurt more than any of the others on here, i thought i'd include it)

Some time in my first three years of life (and well outside my memory) I managed to:
>walk into an opening garage door (the tilting kind), giving me a small (now) "bullseye" scar in the center of my forehead
>walk into something else, leaving me with a scar about 7mm wide and 10mm long on my scalp about half way up
>did something else that left my right eyebrow with a distinct, angled scar about 10mm long

A bit later, I was walking under the hay loft of a barn when glass came showering down from the loft door-and a big honking piece nailed my right lower leg. I have a scar that's about 8cm long and maybe 1cm wide to show for that

Does anyone remember those band-style razor cartridges? The kind that had a long band of razor material and you just wound it a bit for a fresh bit of blade? My dad used those for a while. I found out all about how they were put together-and have a few finger scars to show for that experimentation.

I must have been about 10 when I decided to play monkey bars with the welded steel pipe clothesline poles in the back yard. Heavy pipe like that demands big eye bolts for the clothes line. I nailed the butt of my right hand-the thumb side- on the threaded part of that. I was damn lucky not to have disabled my thumb with that. Interesting scar too.

At about 14 I was using a limbing saw to disassemble a big chunk of tree that was blown down by the wind. The saw bound and I pushed harder. There's a very interesting, jagged scar across my left index finger (between the base and first knuckle) from that incident.

In high school I learned about not putting weight on a wet foot that's being placed on the ladder of a diving board until you're over that foot. The middle toe on my right foot has a fused joint in the middle. It tells me when the weather is changing sometimes.

In movies, when the bad guy shoots somebody, they're not really pointing the gun AT the other actor. Lesson learned, a bit of a scar on the top of my right shoulder, and a really stupid feeling from that one.

My only motorcycle accidents happened on a Honda Passport (a 73cc powered animal!). I got thrown over the handlebars once and am still (over 25 years later) occasionally spitting bits of asphalt from my elbows from that. I got run off the road on an S curve and almost stopped the bike in the ditch before I found a hole in the ditch-scrapes and bruises from that one. And I made a left turn through a big puddle that hid a huge pot hole, so I spent a long weekend on the road with bandages all over one arm and leg. When I moved up to a 500cc Silverwing, I was the most stable rider on the road!

I'm probably forgetting three or four others along the way. Not from head injuries, but from having them get lost among all the others!

Never broke a bone.

I did, however, have a two-inch piece of glass embedded in my hand from just behind my thumb to poking out at the crotch of the thumb (right in the "V"). Got a small scar.

Never reach into a car with a splintered windshield and pull it out without paying attention.

When I was sixteen, I was hit by a car while riding my bicycle. I flipped over the car and landed on my back on the road. My bike was a wreck. But all I got was a fractured clavicle. My head didn't even touch the road, which was lucky, since I wasn't wearing a helmet.

If someone had got it on camera, I'd be a YouTube superstar.

You must have had it worse than me then. I also broke my collarbone, but all I can remember was just getting a lot of rest.

I also managed to break my arm on a tricycle… when I was 11. I was obviously pioneering some jackass-stunt.

Yeah, it was a complete break, bone ends separated. The docs said from the x-rays that I had apparently broken it years earlier, but not completely and it was probably just sore and healed fine.

That break was in a Judo match, and I never took it back up when I was healed. Shame.

My stupid iPhone game: Nesen Probe, it's rather old, annoying and pointless, but it's free.
Was free. Now it's gone. Never to be seen again.
Off to join its brother and sister apps that could not
keep up with the ever updating iOS. RIP Nesen Probe.

I've broken my left leg wrestling as a kid, my back's messed up from an auto accident 3 years ago, and I broke a toe last summer. I'd say my body really hasn't been badly traumatized, compared to some other folks.

I've never broken a bone. I would like to break one before I die though -- just to see what it feels like.

If that's what lights your fire... But it HURTS. A LOT. Even small bones-like my crushed toe-hurt like crazy. If you're into pain, that's probably a way to go, but not me-I'll stick with the bangs and bruises I already have.
