There won't be an OSX "Tiger." At least not at 10.4. Much later, when it is time for the next evolution. Someone's warming up the Transmogrifier.
And that version will be OSX "Hobbes."

OMG News flash!!!
Microsoft announces change to their much-anticipated next release of Windows, formerly known as Longhorn.
REDMOND, WA - Chairman Bill Gates made a comment during a recent press conference that Microsoft is dropping the "Longhorn" from its next version of Windows, citing growing competition from Apple Computer's OS X "Panther". "After looking at our market research data and seeing a larger number of PC users switching to Macs, we've decided to adopt a new naming scheme for our next version of Windows" said Gates. "Instead of being known as Windows Longhorn we will be calling the new version Windows Lions, Tigers, and Bears 2006" Gates proclaimed to waves of applause from the audience. A representative from Apple was not available for comment.

There's nothing there because there won't be any 10.4. Apple is going out of business and will sell Panther until they die.

Bah, of course they'll have to release a new version once they switch to Intel.

The whole cat thing doesn't make sense, especially when the cats don't tell you anything about the evolution of the system. A Panther is faster than a Cheetah? How?
They should have used hominid species.
10.0 = Aquatic monkey
10.1 = Primate family
10.2 = Homo Dumbass
10.3 = Homo Erection
10.4 = Homo Lavoritori
10.5 = Homo Rexus
10.6 = Homo Challengus Longhornicus

Yeah that would make sense - the Panther probably wouldn't be Snappier than the Cheetah either .
