My girlfriend is getting ready for a trip to England over the summer. It has been recommended that she gets some form of insurance on her iPod and digital camera.

She purchased both through Best Buy credit without their extended warranty.

Any suggestions on getting some kind of travellers insurance on these items? Would going through Best Buy or Apple Care be appropriate?

Thanks

Neither one of them has an insurance policy type thing. YOu would need to possibly go through your insurance company for something like that. Just a travellers insurance or something.

Not sure if this is any help, as I live in australia and the insurance rules might be different, but if your girlfriend owns her own home it might be useful to check out her home insurance, because in australia you can get laptops(and I'm pretty sure other portable electronic devices) covered under home insurance.

You have the option of just ordinary home insurance which only covers you if the laptop/device gets stolen etc from home, but if you pay an extra premium you can get the laptop covered when you are out and about, so if it gets stolen whilst on the road you are covered. The only thing can be expensive here, for instance I checked it out about 3 years when I was thinking of getting a powerbook (then about AUD$7,000) was going to cost an extra $900 for the insurance.
