My money to the first app that offers Ogg Vorbis 1.0 support.

Somehow I feel that Apple is losing it's cutting edge advantage in things. We all know the iMac was really the first PC to take USB by the horns and force it on people. The old Macs were the first with SCSI, RS422 (instead of RS232) and AppleTalk. Now we have new developments in the field of audio compression with MP3pro and Ogg Vorbis and Apple can't get this stuff incorporated into iTunes and QuickTime?

I hope Apple stays leading edge and gives us these features. I mean, who wouldn't want Ogg Vorbis? Tight compression with absolutely no patents and royalties? Get moving Apple!

I thought QT 6 has the ability to save and encode in Ogg Vorbis already.

And, if I understand the situation with QuickTime correctly it is incapable of supporting Ogg because it can't handle vbl files (someone correct me if I'm wrong here, cause I'd sure like to be). If we see Ogg support from Apple it's mostly likely going to be in iTunes and the iPod before anything else.

Audion supports the b4 spec. Since 1.0 has been released, I am looking for an app that supports the new 1.0 specification. I need to look into Unsanity Echo. The QuickTime plug-in for OGG doesn't work with QuickTime 6, cause 6 doesn't support vbl files.

hmm. I could have sworn I saw Ogg Vorbis in the QT 6 Preview...but it is not in the final QT 6. It was under MPEG 4 encoding options.
I know I am not going mad. It was in there somewhere. It wasnt 1.0...it was like .97 or something like that.
