the other day, in a fit of rage, I walked into my backyard with my laptop and chucked it into the lake. has anyone else done anything similar? i once had a friend who threw his dell desktop pc out of his window (how ironic!). I never realized that destroying my computer would be such a cathartic experience...

Why would you do that?

I get upset once and a while, but not to the point where I freak out.

I also save every 4-5 mins... so I tend to let things slide...

Here are other ways to destroy your computer. Most of them require a lot less effort than picking it up and throwing it out of your window.

Once, back when I was young and volatile (and drunk), I threw a sofa at someone.

And a bunch of us threw a car off a cliff just to watch it die.

That's why I'm understanding when young people do stupid things. I was young once too. Man, I've got a looong list of Stupid Things I've Done.

Trashing your own computer though? I hope you were drunk. At least then you have an excuse.

I have punched my imac screen a few times (it bruised my hand, but didn't do anything to the screen )

kicking pcs is fun (and thearaputic) too.

I admire anyone who can trash their computer in a fit.

I must have missed the part where vod[k]a told us how much his laptop was worth. If it had been a PII running Win 95 I probably would have trashed it too. On the flip side, if it were ANY kind of Apple I think I would have kept it away from harm and water.

BTW I've only destroyed one piece of electronic equipment before...and let me tell you, it was a good way to release from a month of hell at work. Plus, it was time to get a new unit anyway

As always, IMO.

I remember getting so pissed at my nest of wires when trying to work with digital electronics on a board. Wires EVERYWHERE and then it wouldn't work the way I needed it to work... It would freak me out...

1/2 of the time it way actually working, but I didn't realize it, and the other time the wires weren't connected correctly.

Either way, I would freak and pull all of the wires out and walk out of the room.

Maybe he posts on FARK, where they like to misuse the term "ironic."

But I'm wondering: where do you live that you have a lake in your backyard??

At a stretch, I guess the Dell PC was running Windows, and was thrown out a window. Best I can do really...

I set my PS One of fire, when I had a little fit of rage, when it scratched my favorite game.

I soaked it in petrol, and lit it up, and watch it melt.

I had a PS2 to play my old games so all is well.

DIE playstation one, DIE

I destroyed many computers last summer. I was a tech support guy at a school. We upgraded a lot of PCs so we had fun with the old ones. Tore them up, smashed the glass out of the monitors, opened stuff up and wrecked the components, etc. I have to agree, it's great fun.
