I've mainly been a PC guy, but got an iBook 6 months ago and love it.

On my full size pc keyboard I'm used to using the home and end keys to go to the beginning and end of a line of text quite often.

I see those names labelled on the arrow keys on my ikBook keyboard. But when I use the "fn" key w/ the arrow keys to try to use home and end, it doesn't really do what I expected, it seems to move me to the beggining or end of the entire document.

Is there a way to jump to the ends of a line w/ this keyboard?

Also, I see the Delete key is really what I would call Backspace on a pc keyboard. using fc w/ that key does what I would have called delete.

Thanks in advance!

Chris

Try the key combo of the Apple Key and the up and down arrows.

That would be Apple Key and the left and right arrows to go to the beginning and end of the line. Apple Key and the up and down arrows will take you to the beginning and end of the document.

I do A LOT of text editing on Mac, Windows, and various *NIXes, and I find the Mac's text editing keyboard shortcuts to be far and away the most sensible and intuitive, although if you are willing to read help files and contort you fingers a bit, every platform/editor has the same capabilities.

One wonderful thing about Mac OS X, however, is that virtually anywhere you can edit text on the screen has the same set of shortcuts and services available.

As for the iBook keyboard specifically, the left/right arrows keys actually *are* the home/end keys when you hold down the "Fn" modifier key, so if you are logged in to a Windows machine via RDC, the keyboard shortcuts/muscle memory are actually quite similar.
