Hey, does anyone know how to open up a performa 6400/180 so that I can daisy chain a new harddrive for it? thanks

It is easy. I sold my old 6400/200 to a buddy and we took out the old modem which required this. There are about 5 screws you need to remove to slide out the whole enchilada. This motherboard slides in and out of the case by way of a track, so when you replace it make sure you line it up right. Also, remember to hit the little reset button on the motherboard before you put it back in. One of the forums somewhere actually had diagrams and photos of this process. If I find it I will post it. Good luck!

Don't you need to take the whole thing apart to get to the hard drive though... not just slide out the motherboard? I could show you how to do that if you want...

Apple has a very helpful manual for the 6400 series. You can download it here.
It's about 5mb in size.

www.6400zone.com is a website devoted to the Performa 6400 and has a take-apart manual with pictures and procedure.
